Thumbs up

I was curious if anyone has heard of a manufacturer who currently has/or is working on a tailight kit similar to what was originally seen on the Mustang concept car?

I've seen a close resemblance to the body style from the Xenon Body Kit, but have yet to find anything dealing with a modication to the tailights.

THat would require extensive modification of the body. Probably too much for the aftermarket unless it was a custom like the Saleen.

The Saleen is just a plastic cover piece and a bodykit extension.

As far as aftermarket modding of this, I don't see why this couldn't be accomplished with an LED tailight assembly rather than a traditional bulb like what's on their now.

Use the existing recess of the original lamps, and then continue towards the center with an LED assebly. You'd only need maybe an inch of depth to house them. No cutting required.

Some clear adhesive might be needed near the centerline of the car to adhere the new tailamps, and keep them secure.

looks like it would be pretty difficult IMHO. It has a different trunk, doesnt look like the back is part of the trunk lid at all.

Maybe so, but that's because technically they are two different cars (concept vs production).

Dang! I hadn't even thought about the fact that the trunk extends down between the tailights. So it would then definitely need to be a 2-piece unit.

Ah well!

Well I'd imagine if it was possible to put T-Bird taillamps on the old Mustangs, you could do this to the new one. You might need to mod the trunk though.

It should be quite easily done. Check out www.mustangproject.com to see how they developed a kit to convert early Mustangs to Shelby taillights without any body mods. Something similar could be developed for the 05 although trunk lid mods would have to come into play.
