Antenna replacement

Anyone replaced their antenna including base. Big ugly 1/2" chunk of black plastic is what i hate! Anyone with ideas? How does the stock base come off?

Plastic base snaps on and off, Scott Drake just released a metal cover for the fender antenna mast.

Yea but it brings even more attention to it. Just chop it down and it looks great.

He's talking about the base, not the antenna. Both of ours have the 8" shorty antenna. Looks great. But I agree, the base is too large. The silver piece would definitely make it stick out more. You could probably pull it off and have it painted to match. That might not be so bad. If you really hate it, have it shaved and get an antenna put in your rear window.

They are typically for GPS/Sat radio, not so much FM. I kinda hate them. They are now showing up on the Taurus. I figure down the road if I get any paintwork done I will get mine shaved and put in an amped antenna in the a pillar. I've kinda just forgotten about the antenna, other then when peeps tell me how cool the little chopped one is..

Available from ShelbyPerformanceParts

[But I didn’t get one because I thought it was an antenna base HOLE cover, not an antenna base cover.]

Don't like the cover at all! I think this will make the Antenna stick out even
more with it on.
