Antenna Options

This maybe should go under the Audio section-

What shorty antenna have you all bought? thoughts? places to purchase?

Anyone try the ones that go under the dash?

I got a little rubber antenna, but it was rather thick, and it eventually went "limp" on me and looked rather stupid. I then popped the ball off of the factory antenna and cut the length in half, glued the ball back on, and touched it up with a little black paint. Voila! A factory look, only shorter. It works just fine, and the price was right. Wouldn't change a thing.

I cut the stock antenna. Looks the most "natural". Like it actually belongs on the car.
And not only is it a free mod, but you also get to choose the exact height you want. (for the best reception it's recomended to cut it in half)

I got the 8" but 14" seems more poular as it comes to the top of the windshield header. And it is less expensive. It works "okay" in town.

I'm wondering this as well, however, I don't want to sacrifice FM reception. What's recommended? Thanks

Half the stock length is going to get the best reception.
Stock is 1/4 wavelength. Half would be 1/8th.

I went with the Chrome 14" shorty from MustangTuning.com. The reception has decreased slightly in some areas but is the same as before in the rest.

I just unscrewed mine. If I feel like making the car look good later on, I'll take off the base and have the hole welded up. I never listen to the radio anyway.

I got rid of mine since I only listen to XM Radio or CDs anyway. There is not a descent radio station in my area. Here's a pic of my new "stubby" antenna.

I cut my antenna down to about the height of the roofline, reception is very good. I usually listen to cd's anyway though.

I cut the head off a bolt and threaded it down into the base. Then I put the black rubber bolt cover thingy on the remainder of the bolt. As for my XM antenna...
