Hey all, as I'll be getting my lovely convertible in the winter, I was wondering what some of you "seasoned" owners recommend for winter tires on the GT. As you can see from my sig, I'll be getting 18 Fans, bu I managed to acquire some 17" GT premium wheels for snow tires. Right now the Hankook W300 Icebears, Michelin X-ICE, and Dunlop M3 are on my mind. The Hankooks are the best price option, and are V rated as well as getting good reviews. I'd especially like to hear from the Canuks in the group since y'all are the kings of the sleet.

Don't be shy!!

I put the Michelin X-Ice tires on last year and they worked great. Never got stuck, even on days where most people couldn't make it down the street.

Can't remember the exact name of mine. They are winter version of the Michelin Pilots. They were a good comprimise of wet/snow/dry traction.

Snow never lasts for more than a couple of days here. Snow tires are not a major concern.

X-Ice tires are excellent. My son has those and likes them. Toyo Observes are also excellent and are what our local Ford dealer sells with black steel wheels as a package for the 05 GTs.

Size might limit you. Try big on-line retailers like www.tirerack.com to see what's available in the stock size.

I've had the Toyos (had them on my 1997 & 2000 GT)... didn't like them too much and they wore quicker than others. I will put some German made Semperit Sport Grip on my 2005. Unfortunately, they do not have any 215/60/17 nor 235/55/17. I will settle for some 225/55/17 (1.6 km/h difference at 100km/h).

Here is their site: Semperit Sport Grip

Sorry it is in German ...

Critics have put them higher than the X-Ice or G02 Plus and you cannot beat the price: $525 CDN tax included for 4.

BTW, they are distributed by Continental in North America.

God knows how much snow we get in Quebec ... I will need good tires !
