Anybody know of any after market side mirrors?

I hate the side mirrors on the '05 Mustangs...could they have made them any bigger? :bang:

It takes away from the overall styling...and the finish looks really cheap.

They're so big I could use them to shave while driving to work in the morning.

In fact, what the heck is it with this whole auto industry trend of strapping on giant side mirrors? Is it really necessary? Are drivers going blind? Or is it being guided by the vanity of the Paris Hilton wanna bees?

I went from larger mirrors (grand am), to smaller ones (02Mustang).....
One complaint I had about my 02 WAS the size of the mirrors, or lack thereof...

the ones on the 05 are fine, but to each is own.

Oh really?

I'm looking at a picture of a BMW M3 right now...I'd say those side mirrors are about 60% the size of the shaving mirrors they put on the '05 Mustangs.

I agree, the mirrors are pretty big for a coupe, my Dad's 03 Silverado 2500HD mirrors are a little bigger than the one's on the Stang.

ah who cares. Sorry for being so blunt but after I put on my side louvers I will rely on the mirrors more and personally I don't mind the size. I would rather see who is lurking in my blind spot than sideswipe them.

Street Scene is working on a smaller mirror- its not going to be out for a while as the tooling is very expensive and takes several months to do. You will be able to see these new mirrors in the next issue of 5.0 Mustang Magazine. This issue should be out next week.. The Street Scene mirrors will have options such as heated glass and forward and rear facing signals. It uses the Muth technology.

I've never had anyone tell me "wow nice car, love the color, shame about those HUGE mirrors though!"

Truth be told, although I seem much happier with my 05 than you do, what with the solid rear axle and huge mirrors and all, I do think they are a bit large but not enough to make me consider changing them out.

Be patient, the aftermarket will come up with a solution, probably will make some with blinkers in them too if thats your thing (Euro style!). Give it a few months.

Mirrors are a little big, but not to bad. I have a black GT, so the black mirrors blend in more than say a white mustang. Not an issue with me. They have great visability.

I will have to keep an eye out for the Street Scenes mirrors. I don't mind the current ones at all, but some that have optional heat might be worth it.

After driving a Fox body for almost 20 years with their tiny mirrors, the '05's are just about right.

Like adrenelin said, once I get the louvers on I'm sure I'll appreciate their size.

I'll bet ford made them a little bigger on purpose, especially since it can be heck trying to look into your blind spot, looking out over your shoulder through the quater windows.

Did you guys see the side mirrors on Paul's High Performance 2005 Mustang? Check it out

www.paulshp.com

Does anybody know what these are? I e-mailed the shop, just waiting for a reply. I'll post when I get an answer. Thanks!

Those are 94-04 mirrors. VERY tiny. Almost useless. Even smaller than the Fox mirrors.
I'm glad the mirrors are bigger even though I don't like the look. The Fox mirrors were perfect for me. I was infront of an '05 the other day and they REALLY stick out from the front view. It was actually hard to stop staring at them in my rear view mirror. They stood out a lot.

Somewhere on the forum is a picture of the mirrors when they have been painted to match the body color. They don't stand out at all and look like just the right size. I think it is the black color of the mirror on certain color cars that make them look to big.

You may want to check the adjustment of your side mirrors, I can't see myself in them.

The size doesn't bother me too much (although I too would rather have M3 sized mirrors - if you adjus them per rally driving settings they do not have blind spots [owned an m3 for 6 years]). What bothers me is that these aren't break away at the very least, or fold away at the best.

I almost knocked over my motorcycle pulling into the garage. Thankfully the whole front fork stand slid and nothing scratched or broke, but MAN these Dumbo ears stink!

Peet

P.s. if you want the proper setting method for car mirrors do a full search for it, but the gist is... 1) put head against glass adjust mirror so you just barely see the car in the image. 2) put head dead center of the car and adjust passenger side mirror same way (just barely see rear of car). That's it.

Feels weird at first but keep in mind that you do not need to see behind you with the side mirrors - but you do need to see the blind spot (which has now magically disappeaered! The rearview mirror covers the rear and watch when cars pass by you from behind, they will be visible in the rearview and the side at th esame time which means they don't disappear. Hope this helps some of you!
