I'm looking at buying the C 500 Cervini's hood for my car and they offer it in a lift off version for $200 cheaper than the bolt on hood. I'm relatively unfamiliar with lift off hoods and was wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages to having a lift off hood? I know they are usually for race cars but could it be used as an everyday hood or would this not be recommended?

 

one thing is it is a pin at car shows and you need to make sure you buy 4 hood pins plus find someone to help you just to take the hood off

 

Seems like it would be a big hassle to me. I open the hood on my stang at least once a day just to inspect everything. Couldn't do that as easy with a lift-off hood

 

They are a PITA!!!

yeah...the lift off hood would be a pain for eveyday stuff...but think of how cool you would be when you're somewhere and you ask someone...."Hey, could you help me lift the hood off of my car.." I bet you'd have no problem getting someone to help.... They'd all go.."WHOA...SWEET!....maybe?....I'd get both, that way you have no regrets....just empty pockets!
