That fuel door looks great, but a few questions.

Can it be painted to match the car?
Will you have one without any logo?
How much faster will my GT go once it is installed?

 

Has anyone with with stripes bought the silver horse racing rear panel? I like the look but I'm not sure how it will look on cars with the Shelby Stripes from bumper to bumper.

 

Look back at post #147. He has one on his with Rallye Stripes.

 

1. Sure, but it would require regular surface prep like any other piece.
2. Yes, right after Christmas.
3. Even with the stainless hardware, and the fact that it's approx .250" thick (1/4"), it is still 45 grams lighter than the stock steel piece. So using a little math here...

F=M*a re-arranging to find out a gives us

A=F/M, where A=acceleration, F=Force, and M=Mass

Since the part doesn't give you any more Hp, assume F is constant, so 45g lighter will make you faster, and will help balance the car better when you only have the driver in it, since it is taking weight off the driver's side!

I hope you see the on my face as I typed that, just having some fun!

I'll have some real nice detail pictures later tonight off the car, and on the car tomorrow if the sun ever comes back out in the sunshine state...

Also, non-GT logo parts will be about two weeks out. It's not a problem to do, just this time of year getting things to and from the anodizing shop and everything else...slows us down a little. The non-GT logo parts will still have the machined "C", just no lettering. I'll have pictures of the non-logo parts probably by next week before they go off to anodize.

 

Too early to ask about pricing/street date?

I'm DEFINITELY interested in one of the non-GT pieces when they're ready...No drool emoticon this time, you can just take that for granted

Any special directions for attaching the panel? I have Zaino protection applied to my car's paint. Should I carefully liquid dawn wash the polish off in the area where the panel is to be applied to help the 3M stick better or is it okay to use the 3M tape on existing wax / polish? What is the minimum temperature required for application of the 3M tape? 40 deg F?

 

I have always found using a de-waxer/paint prep product like Dupli-color Grease and Wax Remover, followed up by a cleaning with the supplied alcohol pad makes for a perfect surface. You only need to clean the areas that make contact with the tape, so the other areas can still have the Zaino protection. The instructions tell you not to apply below 60 degrees F to ensure a proper cure of the adhesive.

 

Thanks for the advice 2kGTC. I'm anxiously awaiting mine to come in. I haven't seen any directions and was just curious.

Well, I made my own warm climate. :scratch: No way I could wait for those temps.
So, after about 7 hours under my climate controll:

with these blowing full blast, (My mustang's bum was nice and toasty)

I ended up w/ these 2 pieces INSTALLED

:nono: This is not a reccomendation. Rather, just what I did to get the job done. I left them overnight w/ the heat on to allow for curing,,, and this morning the parts were allowed to "re-climatize." GEEZ, today's high is gonna be a whole 17 degrees f
But I got my honeycomb and taillight trim, so now i just wanna go out there and admire them...but its too cold. :bang:

Those are nice looking pictures. I too, have a Redfire with the 3D Carbon spoiler and was wondering what the rear panel would look like on the Redfire. Now I know. Nice looking car with the spoiler and rear panel.

The Honeycomb panel looks great. Thanks for making our Mustangs stand out.

I could not wait for warm weather, so did my best to warm up the car in the sun and then in the garage, and hope the tape sticks.
