This is primer stage and I have alot of sanding to get it to fit the hood.
I am planning to paint it solid black to break up the deck stripes.

What do you think?

I like it...

I would guess that the sanding is to get it to conform to the hood profile. How are you going to secure it to the hood?

Will you make the turn signal indicators functional?

I want to see the cost of the hood (from Blow By Racing) on this car too...

Yes I am going to conform the scoop to the hood and have it bolted down with the original bolts.
I am also going to try to get the turn signals working.

Looks good! I think it may need to come forward a couple of inches though, instead of being right at the rear edge of the hood.
Are you going to cut/radius out the bottom middle of the scoop to fit the curve, or add material to the front/rear, fill the gaps, to make it fit?
I am looking to add this same scoop to mine.

I know they were available on the '69 and '70 Mach 1s, and they were never functional from the factory.

I think they were also on the 68 Cobra Jet Mustangs, but I am not sure if they were functional. They may have been on the Torinos too...

The scoop is for show (nonfunctional) for now. That may change later.
I am trying to sand the scoop to have a good fit on the hood. then I will use 2 sided tape with the bolts to cover some of the areas that will not fit perfectly but also to give a cusion so the scoop will not rattle on the hood.

I am going to try to get the signal blinkers to work but that will take some rewireing.

I am going to move the scoop up about an inch from the back lip of the hood.

I will probably get the scoop primered and maybe painted by this weekend.
I will then post more pics on the website.

I ordered a '65/'66 Shelby hood scoop off of eBay. Mine is a mold-on though, as in it has a lip going all the way around (except the front obviously). Hopefully in a few months I will have my own project where I will rivet down the scoop and mold it on. Mine will definitely be functional, especially since the throttle body will be right there. The '69 scoop looks good though, although I personally think the design of the '05 meshes much better with the '65-'68 Mustangs than the '69. Good luck with the project.

As far as making a functional scoop on the '05 hood, would it be possible to take off the stock air intake and find some sort of filter to put over the throttle body. Anyone have any ideas on that?
