3000k HIDs for GT

Will 3000k in HIDs be brighter then 3000k Halogens? I read somewhere that 3000k will not look like HID at all.

Thanks

3000k in HID isn't very white. The higher the "K" number the more whitish/purplish you get.

Saleen HIDs are 4300K, and IMHO are not as "HID-ish" as my 6000k HID foglights, which are a distinct electric white (akin to white fluorescent bulbs) with a purplish halo.

I probably wouldn't bother with 3000k HIDs if I were you. (can you get them? Didn't know you could.)

What I'm going for is a yellow/gold color for my foglights.

Then in that case I think you are at the right "k" level for what you are looking for.

Which begs the question... why bother with HID then if you are going to mirror the color of the stock lights?

Maybe you would be better off with (cheaper alternative) Silverstars instead?

Mirro the color of the stock headlights? Dont quite get you there? I had Yellow halo automotive bulbs before and ended up melting the glue off the housing.

4300 is standard cause I doubt people want yellow driving lights.

The "K" references the Kelvin temperature scale, looking at color temperature in this case. 3,000 K is just a little less yellow than typical home incandescent lighting, which runs 2,600 - 2,800 K. By contrast, outdoors in full sun is typically about 5,600 K, and a cloudy day is about 7,800 K (the clouds filter out the lower light frequencies.)

I'm getting mixed answers of "It's gonna be bright" or "It's not going to be bright at all"

There's a difference between BRIGHT and COLOR. The temperature (ie-3000K) refers to COLOR.

For example, a preferred HID temp is 4300K, as that provides a white light and is BRIGHT.

This is compared to a 9000K HID, which may be bluish white (therefore more preferred cosmetically), but actually has LESS brightness on the road.

So, in terms of COLOR, I think you will be good. In terms of brightness, I think they will be very bright.

Would I have any problems with the black housing if I switched to 3000K HID?
