Hmmmm....what to do, what to do. After pre-ordering a set of 3dCarbons I read this post and learned that the 3d's were "closed". Didn't realize this before. Anyways, I sent 3d an e-mail to clarify and got this response (very promptly I might add) re closed or "open" louver types such as the Street Scene one:

"The rear quarter windows are very difficult to see out of. Slotted louvers will give almost 0% visibility. Since there is almost no chance of seeing out the window and 100% chance of collecting dirt and moisture with slotted louvers, we have designed ours to be solid. The vinyl decal provides a clean seal between the window and the louver. The louver is solid to prevent debris and moisture between the louver and the window."

So what do you think? 05GT.....can you see out your rear quarters through the slots when backing up or checking your blind spot area??? Is the 3dCarbon explanantion valid?

Anyone's input is appreciated - with thanks. Mark.

Another option... how hard would it be to vent 3D carbon's unvented louvres? Dremel, Razorblade, something else...

I love the look of 3Dcarbon's; Street Scene's seem to "bubbly" and rounded for the lines of the car, BUT I ordered 3Dcarbon's thinking that you could actually see out and that's kinda what I'm looking for.

Also, if you get the ones that are not vented, is it really gonna look that great looking into a plastic shell from your back windows? Maybe some black vinyl inserts will be in order if there is no way to vent these...

Any ideas?

3d Carbon's 1/4 window louvers have a vinyl cover for the inside of the window to finish it off.

Here is a link to their site, [url=http://www.3dcarbon.com/bodykits.htm] ,scroll down to the louvers and it explains the interior vinyl trim piece.

I have read this thread thoroughly and have finally decided that I will be getting the 3D carbon side window louvers. I think the SSE are too rond, while the MRT are a bit too square. And I personally have not once used my side quarter windows to look out of, so having "open" louvers is not a big deal to me. Having something that doesn't require cleaning underneath is though.

For those of you who have quarter window louvers and have gotten them painted, how much did it cost you to have them painted? I'm guessing maybe $50 for the pair.

Sorry, David... I should have specified. I won't be actually getting them for a few months when I go into the body shop to have my stripes painted on and other stuff. So it won't be anytime soon. But I definitely will post pics when I get them on.

sse, what is there site for louvers, sorry hadn't seen that company posted for louvers anywhere, who are they, thanks for any info. I like the scoops that are on that cobra clone on ebay. They are round, but it sounds like they were custome made. I like cdc, steeda, xenon, but those ones on ebay are bigger and just look tougher all around, especially from the back they look mean. Thanks for any info on scoops mentioned or not.

I just called 3Dcarbon yesterday about my louvre order... The woman I talked to said they anticipated them beginning to ship by the end of the first week in April. I preordered a while ago, so mine should be some of the first ones out the door.

Now I just have to decide if I want to leave them as is or try to cut them out somehow... pics will follow either way.

I saw the Street Scene louvers in person on a mineral grey GT, they look good, I am considering them.
I have e-mailed 3dCarbons to see when theirs are going to be available.
I am wondering if I should have them painted white or black, since my car is white with black stripes?

Street Scene is working on a Generation 2 louver set- they are more square than the current "round" model. They will be cut open just like the current Gen 1 louvers- they will be out in about a month.. Ill post pictures as soon as they are available..
