I would like to see a picture or pictures of the 05 Saleen hood. Does anyone know who makes this hood for Saleen and will it fit the normal 05 GT? Thanks~

Is it different than a regular GT hood?

I think Rich is referring to one with vent louvers.

Is this what you wanted Rich? I'd like to get this hood also.

Here is the best pic I have found so far (from May Mustang Enthusiast).

It looks really good IMHO.

There are good pictures of the hood (and everything else on the Saleen) in the March issue of Road & Track Magazine (I believe), which compares all the various '05 Mustangs available.

The hood runs ~ $850 and should fit a "standard" '05 just fine. I'm thinking of getting it myself - just wish the louvres were functional. $850 seems like a lot to spend for two pieces of plastic in two dents. But it is so pretty...

I would think a good body shop could cut two rectangular holes and put in some louvers...for less than $850.

The reason that I was interested in the hood is because I thought that the louvers were functional? I like this one and the 'boy racer' hoods the best. BTW thanks for the pictures.

It's not? You sure?
That is disapointing. It looks so good (and quite convincing).

I thought they were functional. I don't remember where, but I thought I read that they were primarily for heat extraction from the engine compartment.

Hood louvers would look very cool and have function as well. These cars need some venting from the engine bay to get rid of the hood shake at higher speeds. keep us posted on any finds.

I hope this link works but if you look at the bottom of the page it says that the Saleen hood has heat ventilation which means that it IS functional.

I coulda sworn I read in some magazine or something that it was non-functional, but the ad proves me wrong. My bad for spreading bad info. Sorry, folks.

So, hmmm, it IS functional...
