I still think Jamison can do it. It looked like he was over passing to try to get other guys comfortable in the Princeton since he already knows it well. We'll see, I'm sure they'll get it together

Sluggish first game for the Lake Show as they fall to the Mavericks 99-91. The offense was clicking in the first half, but the defensive intensity was low all game. That should change as Kobe gets healthy and Dwight gets back into game shape. Good news is they get another chance tomorrow night!
Notables:
The Good:
-Ball movement in the first half resulting in easy buckets and trips to the line
-better execution from the bench
-No injuries
The Bad:
-Energy, especially on the defensive end
-Free throw shooting. 12/31 will not get it done for an NBA team
-Not much dribble penetration from the bench

Should the thread title be changed to "Lakers losing"? Political Section jokes aside, the Lakers drop their second game of a back-to-back, as they lose to the Portland Trailblazers, and are now 0-2 for this young season. Turnovers were the culprit in this one which led to easy transition buckets for the Blazers. Steve Nash was injured late in the 1st half. He came back out to start the 3rd, but it was obvious he was hobbling and could not continue. He's a huge loss for this team which is still trying to find its way. Hopefully he isn't out for too long. Kobe Bryant also came up gimpy in the end of the game. Hopefully it's not serious, but he is already pretty banged up.
Notables:
The Good:
-Dwight was dominant from start to finish despite getting 5 fouls. He had 31 pts and 14 reb and shot VERY well from the line. Even better is that he's still not 100%. He had a monster block on rookie stud Damien Lillard
-Kobe was pretty effective despite that he is about 85% (in his estimation)
-Good 1st Q from Pau
The Bad:
-Turnovers. Careless passes and offensive fouls. Some questionable calls from the refs, but you can't rely on them to get it right
-Injuries to Nash and possibly more injury to Kobe
-Metta World Peace is not fitting in with the starting unit
Lakers have got to pick it up, injuries or not

The lack of effort and communication on D really bothers me.
They're gonna have to dial up the defensive intensity against the Clippers. There's a very real chance of starting the season 0-3.
Not sure we want to dig this big a hole to start the season.
Especially in this division.

Nash is listed as doubtful for tomorrow too. They're gonna have to gut this one out

Lakers have a great team on paper, but even if they go all the way to the finals (which I doubt), Miami or Chicago are gonna kill them.
Gasol, Kobe and Artest are just too old to play the whole season at the top level.
Howard can't hit free throws even if his life depends on it (he's worse than Shaq was).
Nash is too old and he always ran the show without playing any defense. That's why he never won anything at Dallas and Phoenix.
With the exception of the 36-years-old Antawn Jamison, the bench is a joke. Earl Clark? Devin Ebanks? Darius Johnson? Darius Morris? Robert Sacre? Who the heck are these guys?
And Mike Brown is ... Mike Brown. If Lakers wanna play the finals, they need to get Phil Jackson back and pay him whatever amount of $$$ he's asking.

Over the past 2 seasons, the Bulls won the most games during regular seasons. I'm sure they would've played finals last year if Rose stayed healthy.

If Derrick Rose stays healthy, Chicago can take Miami in Eastern finals. There is really nobody else at the East who can challenge Bulls and Heat.

But go look at this year's team. It's much different, and much weaker IMO.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what important player did the Bulls lose?
Rose, Noah, Deng, Boozer, Gibson, Hamilton ... they're all there.
Who then? Korver? Asik? Brewer? Nobody really important.
