It looks as though the miami players have put one of the last nails in Larry Coker's coffin after the good ole' fashion maylay on Saturday night. Count em', this is the 2nd major fight in a year that miami has been involved with: 1st - LSU vs. um and 2nd - FIU vs. um. Talk about lack of discipline!!

31 players (18 FIU, 13 UM) were suspended for one game. I say anyone who used a helmet as a weapon or kicked a player who was already on the ground should not only be kicked off the team, but I think the DA should prosecute them for battery. When you sign up to play football, you know you're going to get hit. But there is no reasonable expectation that a brawl like that would break out. Pathetic.

Brad, I agree 100% with you. But, I believe if one analyzed the issue closer they would find a complete break down b/t the coaches and players in relation to sportsmanship and disciple. Not only should those involved be punished but the two schools need to hold the coaching staff liable as well. IMO.

The coach being held accountable would only be making him a scapegoat in my opinion. The universities themselves are responsible for bringing in players on full ride scholarships, giving them God-like status, and the attitudes and actions were displayed on the field. I'm thinking back to the movie "The Program". The coach is only one part in the equation. Again - IMO

Amen!
I was expecting the NFL player who stepped on another players head TWICE while he was on the floor helpless without a helmet, and gave him wounds that needed 30 stiches to close up should have been kicked out of the league

1 game suspension is nothing. Keeps brawls where they belong in Hockey! Go Thrashers!

That may be all well and good, but lets be honest you are trying to place blame on which the entire NCAA "modern" or "present" football program is founded on (for the most part). It is extremely unrealistic IMO to even consider trying to change something as fundamental as the scholarship program, so why not make an example of FIU and um for deterring a similar instance in the future...

I follow you, but my point is that it is IMPOSSIBLE; by way of your solution; to circumnavigate through the bureaucracy of the NCAA to re-write the rule books! IMO.

A kid from my high school actually started the fight, Marshall McDuffie. He has been kicked off the team since the incident but got to keep his scholarship. Ironically, he was apparently a very mild mannered guy. I didn't know him personally but I have friends that played football with him and they said he was a really calm guy. I guess those thugs from the U will make anyone crazy enough to do something incredibly stupid.
