New basketball from Spalding

Starting with the 2006-2007 season, a new official ball will be used in all NBA games.

Meh
It's a good idea to change the ball, but this one is just... meh..

This is a good reason to have this ball:
"Exclusive microfiber composite material spreads moisture evenly across the surface of the ball to promote rapid evaporation and also maintains inherent grip capabilities even as the ball dries."

Dwayne Wade said that even though it's supposed to evaporate the sweat, it really doesn't, and as a result the ball is more slippery than the leather ball. Read the article here.

If it doesnt do its job, they should go back to the old one

Out of all the players, I thought Shaq would have LOVED this ball because he sweats buckets, and he would get a better grip with this ball during free throws.

Nobody seems to care about the NBA anymore so I'm guessing they need this as something to spark fan interest. It caught all of my half a second of attention.

Grant Hill is back from injury. Woo hoo.
Well see how long before he gets injured again (I wonder if Vegas has odds on that) and help to ruin what could be promising season for the Magic(-less).

I'm a firm believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I don't recall any huge outcry about the old ball being bad.
I've seen and played with the new one.
It's not only hard to handle, but it's fugly too!
