Can you believe that on this situation a faul was called on Bibby?

Somebody still think that Donaghy is making stuff up?

I guess no one wants to think about it here. If he is telling the truth, which would be a stretch for this guy, then the NBA world would shake to its foundation. Stern is going to try everything to shut this up and ignore it. I have watched NBA for years, and more than just Spurs mind you, and I even watched the game above. And after certain key game 6's or game 4's which would make the difference between 2-2 and 3-1 I have seen countless questionable calls. Phantom fouls to get big men in trouble and blatant fouls not called. So I don't think it was as much now of the NBA wanting a certain team to win a series as it is for the rating and TV money and venue money to be gained from additional games in the series. I can see Stern telling these guys hey its 2-1 ratings are up, lets "hope" this goes to seven games. And the refs help it along. Hell don't they get paid by the game?

Why would Donaghy have any credibility? I know that refereeing can be horrible in the NBA and favor certain teams, but he's the last guy you should believe about the subject.

He's going to the prison either way. Why would lie now? Especially knowing that Game 6 between Kings and Lakers had so many bad calls and Lakers won because those bad calls were called on Kings.

Look at that video that I have posted. How can any referee call foul on Bibby?

I trust Donaghy a lot more than I trust David Stern since I've been seeing a lot of stuff in the NBA that shouldn't happen. Refs helping Lakers - that's nothing new, it has been happening for a while, but there are other things like Dwayne Wade shooting 20-25 free throws per game versus Dallas few years ago, or that stupid referee who ejected Duncan for laughing from the bench.

I've seen plenty of terrible calls like that. Yeah, it's ridiculous, but there are plenty of ridiculous calls made. I'm not saying I believe Stern either, but there's nothing to make me believe Donaghy either.

The Wade thing is something I've been mad about since that series. I'm not really a fan of the Mavs, though I was rooting for them. They got completely jipped in that series. They had that series essentially wrapped up and it was stolen from them.

As for the Duncan thing, I couldn't be more against the Spurs and I thought it was ridiculous. Joey Crawford is one of the most headstrong refs in the NBA and he thinks he is the star of the game. That ejection was an absolute joke and I have no idea why he was allowed to return to the NBA this season.

I believe Donaghy because I always thought that game 6 between Kings and Lakers was fixed. Kings were up 3:2 in wins and on their way to the NBA finals. They had a lead in Game 6 and only way the Lakers were able to win is by shooting free throws (27 in the 4th quarter, 40 in the entire game) in the 4th quarter. 16 out of their 18 last points came from free throws.
Both of Kings' big men were fouled out (Pollard had 6 fouls in only 11 minutes) and Shaq had only 4 fould in 44 minutes while pushing everyone around him. There are many situation similar to one with Bibby and Bryant on the video and in all them fouls were called on Kings.

David Stern simply couldn't let Kings go to the finals. Nobody wanted to watch guys like Stojakovic, Turkolgu and Bobby Jackson in the finals instead of stars like Shaq and Bryant

I have to say, the Lakers have horrible fans. That place is so quiet you'd think the Marlins were playing. Their lack of enthusiasm is laughable. I've seen better pregame intros at Little League games.

I'll agree. It's too quite for a Finals game but what a way to start. 21 point lead in the 1st Go Lakers!

edit: we're quite but not horrible fans

Did they lose. I havn't watched this series. I thought for sure they'd win game 4, lose game 5, win game 6,, and then whoever in 7. But I guess the refs were told to call it clean so they didn't get the help they needed.

I will give Kyle and Leo credit. I don't remember who said the Spurs deserved to lose the game in which they lost that big lead, I think game 1, and now they are also saying the Lakers deserved to lose for losing the lead. So kudos gentlemen on being consistent and honest.

Don't give me too much credit, I'm not a Lakers fan. I don't think I said the Spurs deserved to lose (though they did). I'm a Magic fan, but more an NBA fan than anything.

I am happy for Paul Pierce even though I was rooting for the Lakers. I really like him.

I'm from the SE PA area so my team is the Sixers, and their rivals back in the day were always the Celtics and Lakers, so I didn't like either being in the finals. But if I had to make a choice, I'm glad the Celtics won, as I'm happy for KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. All 3 have been harped on for why they couldn't win the big one (especially KG, as he was considered the franchise in Minnesota). Seeing how happy KG was when he was doing his interview in the press room, and after the game with Bill Russell, that was really cool!!!

And you know what the best thing about the Celtics winning? This should END all discussion about Kobe Bryant being as good (or as some have argued) better than MJ? These comparisons have bugged me this season!!! I liked Mike since 1988 (I was in 6th grade), and having over 100 games on tape, and watching hundreds more, I can tell you without a doubt, Kobe isn't anywhere close to MJ!!! For all you out there who thought Kobe was good as MJ, YOUR NUTS!!!! Kobe showed he couldn't pull it off, like MJ could. MJ had bad games in the playoffs, but still found a way to win. Kobe couldn't do it. Congrats KG, you waited a long time. Enjoy it!!!

So am I. I have no respect or sympathy for Kobe Bryant or Phil Jackson and would not enyoy seeing them win the NBA Finals.

Lets hope the Celtics stay humble and gracious after this victory as they have been during their quest. Championships have a tendency to transform personalities as it did Michael Jordan who went from a pleasant, down to earth individual to a conceeded, arrogant moron.
