The NHL and NHLPA finally agreed to a new CBA. I am personally happy the players got the shaft and had to give huge concessions. Hopefully they can rebuild the game into a solid product. I wonder who will end up getting Crosby. My guess is pittsburgh. The leauge should build around him.

And it would be awesome if Pitt. gets Crosby! (Big Pitt fan since middle school because of Super Mario Lemieux )

They will do a weighted draft lottery, so any team theoretically has the chance to get the #1 pick.

As much as I would love to see Crosby playing for the Leafs or the Canadiens, it would be best for the NHL if he landed on a US franchise so that the league can market around him. I genuinely think he will be an excellent player.

The proposed rule changes should open up the game as well.

I'm so happy, I'm feeling giddy. No two line passes will definitely speed up the game. What other rule changes are there?

There is talk of shootouts at the end of overtime. That will be a gift to fans and a chance to get some excitement back in the game.

From tsn.ca

In addition to that major business, the NHL is also expected to unveil significant rule changes aimed at making the game more exciting and fan friendly, including shootouts to end tie games and the removal of the red line for the purpose of allowing two-line passes

Sweet!!! No Two Line Pass! I hated that stupid rule.

Shoot-outs? I'm on the fence with that one.

While I see the anti-shootout argument, I think it is needed to raise the profile of the NHL.

That is a guaranteed way to get some hot NHL coverage on the highlight reels, and hopefully attract new fans.

It happened during the last allstar game and was a smash hit.
