Are you kidding me? You're crying about that? This is the big league playoffs man.
How many web gems do we see each week where the 2nd baseman (& shortstop) are jumping as they throw to avoid getting hit by the runner?? It happens a lot - right behind the catcher.
Holliday was doing his job to try and distract the throw to first. He wasn't trying to cause the guy physical harm. Its not like he went in spikes first like happens all the time at the plate against catchers. There was no harm intended. Sometimes it happens.
''In hindsight, I wish I would have started the slide a little earlier but it happened so fast,'' Holliday said. ''I hope he's OK, he's a good guy. I was more interested in breaking up the double play.''

...and this all took place BEHIND the bag.
...and a 235lb man doesn't need his spikes, he just needs to land on the side of his knee. In football he would get his *** kicked for such a move.

Like I said - happens all the time throughout the regular season. That's what makes a great second baseman. To be able to make the throw and not be taken out.
And distracting the second baseman from completing a double play is what makes a great runner.

You must not watch much mlb. And in October, World Series is on the line. Everybody plays aggressive or goes home. Again, Holliday didn't intend to cause harm but did intend to mess up the throw.

I'm saying its an aggressive slide that I see happen fairly often. And moreso in the bigger games. No umps cried foul. No rules were broken.
What is this the first time you've seen a runner try and upset a double play throw?
btw, has the mri showed anything different than the x-ray?

Strained hip, mostly likely will play, but will have to see how he moves on the field.
