The Hawks just missed the playoffs...

I will go with my 2nd favorite team now which is Dallas, otherwise I do not care who wins it will all be good hockey!

Notice how 4 of the original 6 teams are in the playoffs? Pretty cool.

I know how you feel Boomer, I'm a Sens fan, and it's just like sitting and watching a train wreck. You don't want to watch, but you can't turn away. I have a feeling this isn't going to be a pretty year, however mercifully short this first series might be.

I said it last year that they shouldn't have signed Ray Emery to a longer contract, too many times he let too many sloppy shots by, and what a year he had to celebrate his new contract! Ottawa is going nowhere in the post season without a new netminder.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. I don't think they have it in them to get past the Pens. They have talent, but not enough drive and not enough goaltending (although Gerber actually looked pretty good for much of game 1, which surprised me). I think I'm going to support my best friends favorite (Detroit, I'm from Michigan) after Ottawa is out.

Gerber actually looked fairly good last nite. It could have easily been 5-0 by the end of the first period. I hope the series makes it back to Pittsburgh, I want to get to game 5 next weekend. But if they sweep the Sens I won't be too upset, payback from last year.
Go Pens

The dangerous thing about Ottawa for Pittsburgh is that a lot of what they're playing against is in their heads. It's the strangest thing. I still think Pittsburgh makes it out of the first round, but I think Ottawa could give them some unexpected fight if they finally want to. I still think it was a mistake not to pick up Hossa on our part. Enjoy that for at least this year ;-) I think Pittsburgh is going to have some hard salary cap issues to deal with coming up considering how much that team is going to be worth if they have a good playoff run, even including some of the longer contracts they have going.

Yes, the Flyers pull one out to tie the series. This is one hard hitting series.

Anyone see the flames comeback yesterday?

Im rootin for pittsburgh in the east, but i think it will be a close race between them, montreal, NY, and NJ. Gonna be interesting to see who can stay healthy and who steps up.

Good to see the Bruins showing some life. I'm really liking the Caps Flyers series right now too. Boy people in San Jose are going to be P.O.'ed if they get shown the door by Calgary!

It's definitely a disappointing year to be a Sens fan though. Spezza's probably out for game three, even if it's in Ottawa. Just doesn't look like there's any gas left in the tank...since February...

Oh, it hurts it hurts. Watching the sens go out like this. These are the times that let you know if you're a bandwagoneer or an actual fan. I still love my Sens, but this just sucks to watch. Oddly enough, watching Pittsburgh win the cup two years in a row with a good friend was what got me into liking Hockey in the first place...

Also a little disappointed to see Detroit go down tonight, but I knew they weren't getting out of that series without a fight, Nashville is underrated.

That guy is such a useless waste of space...

reminds me of a worse Matthew barnaby

I like Buffalo and all, but when he was on the team... it was embarasing.
I remember the old rumour about when Rob Ray actually hung him out the balcony window for changing the tv channel on Rayzer... and how they used to get into actual fights during practices.

I think Avery could eb the first guy to actually get expelled from the league, hes sucha little tool. Someone on his own team even came over to him during his little game and told him to stop it i think.

Methinks old man hockey/shanahan wont take it for much longer.

I know you're not a sabres fan doing that Boomer...

At least the agony is over, all there is left is the trash talking for another year between Buffalo and Ottawa. What's worse? Squander and lose half your team...or have a team and squander and lose half your season, including the part that counts?

All I gotta say is, thank god we're going to get a new goalie and some new defense.
