It's better to just accept defeat and get used to the feeling...

Welcome to the Buffalo and Toronto club

Our buddy was babbling on today "well at least they made the playoffs"
I told him "they don't give you a trophy for getting kicked out in the first round"

Personally, I have a problem with calling getting swept in the first round of the playoffs any kind of accomplishment, that's pretty much the same as not making them. Which pretty much puts us all in the same boat. Also, inasmuch as I am a Sens fan, I'm of course aware of the rivalry with Buffalo, I just personally don't participate that much. I actually like the Sabres, and have ever since the days of Pat LaFontaine. I don't really care that much that Buffalo and Ottawa have alternately put each other out of the playoffs, competition is really the point. And with the nature of the NHL these days, it's hard to think about the idea of putting a dynasty together.

Which brings up Pittsburgh. Wow, what a team. So many stars. Hope they do something this year, because these guys are just re-writing their star quality paychecks. Pittsburgh is notorious for not having the finances to maintain too many stars at a time, and with Malkin, Crosby, Fleury, Staal, Sykora, Gonchar, and Hossa among others, I can't see them affording payroll for very long.

Last but not least, one day after getting swept, it appears Ottawa is already in the market for a new number one goalie. I hope they add a few new defensemen along with a little more offense to that list.

haha! Your right, and yet, doesn't it seem lately like being on top is more of a curse instead of proof of dominance. How many president's trophy winners have gone down in the first or second round in the last 10 years?

All I gotta say is, there has been some great hockey so far in these playoffs!

Buffalo being one of them.
If it doesn't hit them in the playoffs, could affect them next year

From 1st place, to not making the playoffs

Washington shouldve won that... phillys second goal was such crap, then again there seems to be plenty of important bad calls in the playoffs this year. And noooooo more flames.

Can't wait for Montreal to mop the floor with Philly, I agree, I think they just went farther than they can handle. Washington would have actually had a shot against Montreal.

On the other hand, can't wait to see what happens in the Sharks/Stars series and the Pens/Rangers series. Those seem to promise some very good hockey.

What about Avs/Wings?! Theres gotta be some hatred left there... That was probably the best rivalry in hockey for quite a few years, and having Forsberg and Foote back in it again should help everybody remember that.

I really dont think that the rangers or the flyers have a chance. Theyre both way too slow, hell, philly couldnt even keep up with washington, the habs are gonna make them look like pylons. And the rangers just can't compete with the pens firepower.

Heres hoping for a pens/canadians matchup in the next round.

GO FLYERS!!!

You people kill me, Please the Flyers series should have been a flat 4 game sweep, Philly ran over the Caps throught the series If it werent for one bad 3rd period in Game one the series would have been over long ago.

Looking back at the recent posts, looks like we got some disgruntled Caps and Flames fans....

Maybe Roenick isn't washed up yet eh?

Philly was ok...but Washington wasn't exactly stellar either.

If Montreal is on the 'A' game, it'll be lights out in 5

Biron has to get on a hot streak to have a chance.
Hope he does well...liked him from the Buffalo days.

First off, 'IF' gets you nowhere, but thats something they blew themselves. But 'IF' the refs hadnt blown that call on the second goal (something that was no fault of the caps), then the flyers would be golfing right now.

And im definitely not happy the flames lost, but i never said anything about Roenick being washed up, id be the first to agree that the old guys are usually the ones that step it up in the playoffs, roenick did it for the sharks and nolan did it for the flames. The sharks were just too deep for the flames who got almost no secondary support.

As for the caps, im not really a fan, i just think they played better hockey than the flyers. They flyers have got some talented guys, but when it comes down to it theyre just too slow to play... IMHO.

Thats the great thing about playoff hockey, you never really have to wait too long to be proven right or wrong.

I'll totally eat my words here, Montreal is not doing at all what I thought they were capable of. Kudos to Philly, who is going very far past what I thought they were capable of. If they can finish Montreal, and manage to do well or best Pittsburgh, Biron will have rewritten his image completely in the NHL I think. However again, Philly fans, I'd expect some major damage from Pittsburgh, looking at what they're doing to NY, and NY is loaded with talent.

As for mopping the floor, what about Detroit with the Avs? My god, not enough gas in the tank to get anywhere for Colorado! And to go out like this in the last game? OUCH. That's a team looking for a little payback next fall...

first off colorado deserves that for going after Frosberg like that. What were they thinking he hasnt been healthy for who knows how long. His career at this point is a total right off. Montreal is making me cry at this point. I really believed that the cup might be coming home to Canada this year however, it seems very doubtfull at this point. I cant believe what is happening with them. Ah well at least the leafs still suck
