2005 Tour de France

Thanks. Now back to Le Tour. Tomorrow morning when I climb out bed I hope to read that Lance has won the time trial. I'm sure he'd like to win one individual stage in this year's Tour and clock himself out as a master of the TT before ascending the podium in Paris for the last time.
After Sunday we can all go back to talking about Mustangs and other cars, at least until college football rolls around.

I'm thinking there is a sense of impending doom in the peloton.
Armstrong is in very good shape, but I get the impression he has yet to really put the hammer down. Those guys know what's coming...he's gonna crush 'em.
Rumor has it he's gonna run for something...as a DEMOCRAT. He invited J.Kerry
to his party with a bunch of Sheryl's hollywood Lib buddies.

I still hope he wins the TT stage.
OT: I'm leaving early tomorrow on my multi-state ride guys. Talk to you in a few days.

What a great day for Armstrong, and what a sad day for for Rasmussen. It's all over except for the champagne tomorrow in Paris. My, what a fabled history his will be. Jan Ullrich has lived in his shadow for so many years. Maybe next year will be his, but there are are a few young lions lurking around.
Could Lance win another? I think so, but we'll never know, and anyone who wins next year will have to wonder about that.
Still, I think it's so much better for Lance to retire now while he's on top than to hang around and wait for the inevitable explosion like what happened to Miguel Indurain.
I don't care if he runs as a Democrat. That's a race he has yet to win, let alone run, but he may bring a new perspective to that party. We'll see.
And we'll celebrate tomorrow.

Rob....good luck and god-"speed"...Texas has produced some big liberals,LBJ,Ann
Richards, etc. You never know where they will come from. What if Lance became a conservative Democrat? I know ,wierd concept in this day and age,but that's what Dem.s were in the 40's. What they are doing now ain't workin.
Scott...so Ullrich won in 97. What if he wins in 06? That would lead one to wonder,"What if there were no Lance(almost happened) ?"
Would that have meant 10 straight for Jan? I wouldn't mind seeing him win next year. I'd like to hear what you guys think.
He's a tough guy ,but not that focused..my humble opinion.

I think next year will be Ullrich's last chance to win another Tour. Had there not been Lance on the scene, who knows what would have happened. Of course, we can also ask about whether Lance could win another one...We'll never know.
Interest here in the US for the Tour will probably drop off without Lance, but I'll still be following it, hopefully from Poland as an English teacher.

Ah, I think it's great that an American has dominated France's greatest sporting event 7 years in a row.

I'm baaaaaack.....and exhausted. Challenging physical, but mentally was tougher.
I'll post the curves later tonight.
Here's the basics:
Day 1: DC to Harrisburg, PA, 124.8 miles, ~9 hours including stops, 4360 ft vertical ascent.
Day 2: Harrisburg, PA to Wilkes-Barre, PA, 117.7 miles, again ~9 hours, 7300 vertical ascent.
I have to put back some of the 12,500 calories I burned, so I'll be by the pool eating wings and bratwurst and sucking down every beer I see for the next few days.

It looks like we have another controversy brewing about Lance and alleged doping in 1999. I can't believe it and I wonder where this is going. Any thoughts?

How do you say "SOUR GRAPES" in French. They have been after Lance for years and now come up with something that would not stand up in any court. The heck with em!
