Not on a SVT product anyway. He probably had nothing to do with the development, just like the GR1. The SVT Cobra name is fine for me.

I'll reserve judgement until I see it and know the details..... and I'll bet he was involved...

There wouldn't be any past SVT Cobras if it wasn't for the Shelbys of the 60's. And since this 2005 Mustang is so thankfully influenced by the late 60's Mustangs, it make perfect sense that the Shelby name be there now.

It's just a name and it's still an SVT product. I don't get all the angst over this.

IMO, a Shelby should have been a special edition rather than degrade SVT. The bottom line for Ford is sales and it wouldn't make any difference to keep it separate.

This topic has been beaten to death since the rumors first started about Shelby getting involved at Ford again.

Keep in mind, regardless of your feelings about the man C Shelby himself, The Shelby Cars were some of the sweetest cars ever made. Why do you think they are worth 150k? This should be about the cars not the man.

Now is our opportunity to own our little piece of a Shelby Car. $40k is a lot closer to my budget than $150k.

I hope the rumors of 2 cars are true. IF there are 2, I'll buy whichever of the 2 I like best. I sure won't refuse to buy a really nice Shelby GT 500 because I didn't like the Chrysler Shelbys (with the exception of the Viper) or becasue I don't like the spices in his chili.

Why do you think they are worth 150k?
The bums at Barrett-Jackson can be thanked for being instrumental in raising the values beyond comprehension, and the idiots that pay the ridiculous amounts.

I'll agree with you there. That place has single handedly ruined the possibility of nice muscle cars for us common men. Which makes the prospect of modern muscle that much more appealing. Whatever SVT offers (Shelby, Cobra or both) will be the best Mustang ever produced. Sign me up.

If the term "used car salesman" ever meant to be intended for a particular group, it was for the trailer trash scumbags at Barrett-Jackson.

O.K. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why would you run the chance of f'ing up your car or paint or what ever, just to remove something that was installed @ the factory, that is part of the car?

Maybe because he doesn't like it. It's not dumb, some people just don't like extra badging on their cars. What's wrong with that. Just because you wouldn't do it makes it the dumbest thing you ever heard?

If you don't want badging, get a car w/o badging, OR make a request to Ford to build your car w/o badging. And if he doesn't care about the name, why get the car? I'm sure there are other ways to get the desired vehicle than by buying one and defacing it, like buying another model mustang and modding it. Which I believe is the v6 is the only one, all others have badging somewhere; GT, Saleen, Roush, etc.

I am all for a Shelby Mustang but I dont like it used with SVT. SVT has spent the last 10 years earning the rights to the name COBRA and Shelby has done nothing except file law suits. Whats next if things don't work out for Carroll will he file another law suit claiming that Cobra is his name again and then what make us all pay him for using his name on are cars.

Why is taking off the badging "defacing" the vehicle? My point is...why do you care what someone else does to their car? It doesn't affect you, does it? Some people don't like to modify vehicles. They like to buy factory made cars and keep it that way. Building up lower model cars are a lot of work. And cost a lot of money. He may like the 'clean' look.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me if it's got Shelby's name on it or not. It's the CAR and its performance that matter in the end.

Just as long as the word "COBRA" is on it somewhere along with a Blue Oval, I'll be happy.

You just contradicted youself. Either way, he's modding it somehow. Whether it be body or engine, he's gonna have to mod it.

All I'm saying is that Zwer stated that the badging meant nothing. If that's the case, why spend $40K and then have the badging removed, holes filled, and then repainted, just because "the badges mean nothing"? Apparently they DO mean something, you don't like them otherwise you would let them be. Spend $ 28K on a GT, get a supercharger, do whatever else, and remove the GT badging. Seems a lot cheaper that route.

And no it doesn't effect me at all, I just think it's a dumb comment and dumb logic.

Well when you say mod I automatically think engine so I am not contradicting myself, I just didn't make my point clear enough.

And, if the rumors are true you would have to include the price of an engine also. Those aren't cheap.

So let me get this straight...other people's opinions and feelings are dumb? O.k. just checking.

BTW, your opinions are fine, their yours. I got no problem with them. But when you start calling opinions dumb, that's when I don't understand where you are coming from. Don't attack someone when they express an opinion. Cause that's all it is.

Now go ahead and break down everything I said and post your opinion.

Yes, my friend, I, a lowly boy from GA, am always right and the sky is pink. You are making this bigger that it has to be. I never stated other people's opinons and feelings are dumb, apparently you did that for me.

Zwer made a comment about his opinion about this particular car and his plans on it and the reasoning behind it. I gave my opinion on what and why he said what he said. I'm sorry if I peed in your cornflakes by saying it but I still think that what he said and the reasoning behind it is dumb. If he could give me a more logical reason other than "the badges means nothing", then I'll retract my statement. Until then, lets please end this.
