first of all im not a long time die hard mustang fan, im just getting into them since i got the 05 so please dont flame me for asking some questions about the roush

i went to joe meyrs in houston today to look at a 05 stang with lambo doors (its the one in the thread in exterior on here) anyway you can read about the doors in the thread http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=18665

anyway it has been my impression over the last few years that the roush and saleen mustangs had alot more power then the stock gt's but in talking with the salesman he said the roush had 12 more hp then the gt and the saleen had 25 more hp

is that how its always been?

or are these packages just for the looks upgrade?

im kinda lost on why they are asking 10 to 15 grand more for these then a gt

also i love the body kit on the roush but it didnt seem to line up right and the side window louvers were screwed in  is that better then just using the 3m tape?

like i said i havnt been into the mustangs untill i saw the 05 and i love the way it looks and thats why i got one so please dont flame me for not knowing the scoop on the saleen and roush packages

i was just curious and i know someone on here will be able to help me out

it all depends one which stage for the Roush,; stages range from 1-3, 3 being the most beastly. also, i dont think any Roush has only 12hp, i thought it was alot more

plus it might not be a full on roush. it might just have a dealer installed bodykit and a few Roush parts. but i cant be sure.

this years Saleen does dissapoint me tho, only 25 more hp. but with both of em, you also get a lot of suspension mods and other little goodies too.

no flames from me. i remember when i first got started on stangs, i was as lost as you are.

i didnt know about the different stages ill have to look more into that

another thing i noticed 2 of the roush stangs they had there had 22's with like 295/25/22 tires and i know the large wheels kill performance and even thought i have 22's i wasnt going for performance i was going for looks anyway i didnt even look at the price of those lol

im thinking these roush mustangs at this dealer are more show then go

but the sticker shock was still hard to swallow ya know

Both Saleen and Roush usually just add suspension mods, and when you get higher up in the stages you get more power.

05 Saleen>05 Roush
SN-95 Roush>SN-95 Saleen

IMO

The diff stages add diff things. Look at Roushperf.com

Basically stage 1 is the basic car mostly body kit, some minor perf mods

stage 2 above + better suspension

stage 3 above + supercharged engine (these are the big dogs). I drove a 2002 360R(which is a Stage 3 car for the most part). It had plenty of power and handling was very impressive as well as impressive brakes. If you are interested, take a look before you decide. The pure numbers (HP, etc.) won't tell the whole story. With that said, you can start with a Cobra and have it modded for the same money as a Roush and have a better car. Kenny Brown Performance (kennybrown.com) makes a sweet Cobra S. Their site no longer has info on it, but, I assume once the Cobra is out, they will have stuff for it. He is more into go than show. So, you save money on body kit and put it where it counts (suspension and engine).
