Ok, here it is:

2006: California Special
2007: Bullitt

They are still discussing whether to do a Mach 1 and/or Boss and if they do what they want it to look like. Just letting you guys know the latest info I have gotten.

Did you get this from your trusty friends at the Ford plant? If so I'm guessing is not a lie.

Got it from numerous people on the Mustang team in Ford Corporate. It's reliable. Plus the 2006 colors Brad has are from me (which I got from the same people). So to believe one is to believe the other.

Exclamation

I agree with Charles. California doesn't carry the same meaning it did 40 years ago. I think of left-wing hippie environuts when I hear California. Although, "California Special" would be a good name for a hybrid Mustang.

One of the Team Mustang individuals at the 40th anniversary gathering in Nashville mentioned that they (i.e., Team Mustang) would like to see something along the lines of a California Special offered. It was also mentioned, however, that the "bean counters" can be a difficult bunch to convince even with limited content special editions.

callifornia special is way too obscure to invest into, if they are actually thinking about it, it will get shot down by marketing.

I seriously doubt a California Special would be anything more than just a sticker/stripe package or be available outside CA. Considering how many Mustangs are sold here, it wouldn't suprise me if the bean counters gave it the go ahead though.

While horribley entertaining, the idea of a Hybrid Mustang would be great! Especially if it was done in a manner similar to the eclipse concept. If it was capable of all wheel drive with the hybrid running the front, traditional engine running the rear, and getting great fuel economy, the mustang would sell in the same numbers it did years ago.

Ford did this before in the late 60's or early 70's. They offered a special California Edition, or something like that, which as I recall had nothing more than stripes and a couple of other features.

Not a good idea, in my opinion.
