Shelby Update
Well ill say it again, as ive said it from day One, my Shelby will have the S.H.E.L.B.Y all the way across the back, regardless of what Ford does. I will not have the little lettes shelby pushed off to one side! Ill get them to stay on those stripes of i have to bolt them and superglue them, with bubble gum as extra support!
I have noticed the seats as well ... was hoping those were just a quick thow in for the concept. I thought the 03-04 Cobras had different seats from the other mustangs, was I wrong in this assumption?
I just thought that the production version would have slightly different seats with more side bolster support. ... but perhaps I am wrong, only happened numerous times in the past.

With all the other cost-cutting measures taking place, I suspect the leather dash and door panels will disappear too. Brad, know anything about that?
Hmmm, the Saleen is starting to become more appealing. The standard S281 won't be as quick, but I love the way the new Saleen looks and it purportedly handles amazingly.

I've looked at the seats in dozens of other performance cars, most not nearly as sporty as Shelby, yet they all have nice seats that look like something straight out of a race car. Take a look at the seats in the SRT version of the 300, and that's a 4 door family car for Christs sake, or look at the bad hiney seats in the Aussie Falcon.. This car, like everything else Ford puts out, just screams compromise to me. :bang:

I agree about the seats, the new shelby needs RECARO's like the 00 R had.

the terminators did have leather seats that were designed different, but for people with broad shoulders the mustang has always been a tight fit

I'm with you Tom on the inserts for the seats ... I plan on getting a black one as well but I do not want red, would rather have a dark gray or dark blue as an option for my black car. The GTO, ugly as it is, lets you choose from set dual interior colors for each exterior color.

I would agree with others here that we need premium seats in the GT500, no cheap V6 chairs. Ford also needs to keep the premium materials such as the leather dash, etc. from the show car.
The GT500 is supposed to be the top shelf Mustang, why oh why give us the base interior? The rest of the car MUST match the stellar drivetrain.
I hope your sources are on the mark then Dennis!!
I am pretty sure the seats will change in the car as well, I just hope they change enough and they offer us a variety of colors if they do the two tone.

My sources tell me that the Shelby will have soft I/P top and modified seats with revised trim and different side bolsters!

Ahhhh...thanks, Brad. Sounds, then, like if the leather gets dropped, that they will at least use some of the "soft-touch" plastics in the interior that we see so commonly now in Japanese and European vehicles - which would be nice.
My ONLY gripe with the new Mustang are those cheap, hard plastics <sigh> in the interior.
Fingers crossed for something more upscale; more befitting of the first Shelby in 35 years!

Eh this info. isn't too significant, as it's based off another Cobra mule that was white, yet it matches up similarly to the yellow one posted here. But, once again, the hood on it was like the yellow production version posted here, but there weren't any cheap black plastic inserts, just paint (But maybe it simply wasn't finished). The interior was the same as the GT, no special leather or seating, just a Cobra on the steering wheel and seats.

They're not going to spend a lot of time and money on things that don't matter for the test mules. That's why we're seeing V6 decklid medallions and other oddities. The hood, however, has a direct correlation with the car's performance.

What I can't believe they are doing and nobody has mentioned it yet is the seats, forget about color and stripes for a minute, the seats are exactly the same as the seats in the freakin V6!! heck my Focus ZX3 has bigger side bolsters, this is supposed to be the top dog Mustang, and people are going to be ending up in the passenger seat in hard left turns. The stripes on this yellow car are NOT production. They were cut for a different hood design--not this one. The tape stripes will more closely follow the lines of the scoops.

To me, this looks tons better than the original pix of the yellow Cobra. The stripes help to integrate the scoops.
