I think everyone is losing touch with this car and going a lil' buck-nutty over the hood. There will be a ton of aftermarket hoods available if you don't like the production one.

Oh, if there are 4 or 5 "other" hoods out there, where are the pics?? I'd love to see pics of the other test hoods. Anyone else game?

Considering A) the aftermarket hoods will have to be unique to the Cobra (due to the headlights/front "buldge") which will probably lead to almost no aftermarket hoods available (since on 7k will be made, I doubt any company would tool up for such a small market over the 180k+ "regular" Mustangs), and B ) it is a $40K car, I think we have the right to be a little "buck-nutty."

They gave us the concept and said it was 90% production ready. And cosidering they didn't change too much externally, what they did is what we would expect (or very close). Now, if they give us this evo-looking hood, people will be upset. We are just trying to let Ford know this (at least in our own heads) when there is time to change their minds.

Well I'll speak for all the whinners, We wont (not meaning me of course) buy it with that ugly hood Ford, you messed up and and everbody but Bob agrees with us so you will lose money!

except for the discounted Shelby Bob will buy because the other 6,999 Shelbys were to go to the whinners.

Well they said the show car was 90% production form, if the hood is 10% of that 100% show car, the 450+ HP will smooth things over nicely.

Make my black with gold stropes please!

Well, if what Brad says is right on, then I'm with Ford for changing the hood. They NEED to relieve the heat/pressure under that hood. If they changed the design for functionality reasons, then I'm all for it.

The hood on the yellow one is a tragedy compared to the concept.

Just as the GT lost its sharpness from concept to production, I am seeing signs of the Shelby losing it's own aethetics. Hood, splitter...this car should also have a truly integrated ducktail as well rather than a bolt on, but that's another issue.

The Shelby is not a car I want to go to the aftermarket for. If you can't give me what you show, don't show it at all. Thanks.

Agreed, the concept hood was gorgeous, however, the one on the yellow car is hideous. I understand that the hood needs to perform functionally but I'm sure there is design the performs functionally and asthetically. Back to the drawing board Ford.

Apparently I'm a minority of one. But, I can definately live with that hood. As good as the concept. NO! But, I will gladly look over it day in and out as I tool to work.

Looks like it's gonna be the best 45K I've ever spent.

Somebody doesn't understand airflow around the front of a car, do they?

When you need to extract hot air from under the hood, you need to create a low pressure region to draw the air out from under the hood. A cowl hood is the exact opposite of that; The base of the windshield is one of the most HIGH pressure areas on a car, and a cowl induction hood will always push more air under the hood rather than pull air out, hence the name "cowl induction".

Cowl induction hoods are silly unless you have a deliberate plan to make use of the extra air coming in at the back of the hood; or you are desperate for extra engine to hood clearance.

would probably look better with the wider black stripes that kind of hide the vents in the racing stripes.

1. I dont care, the saleen hood had the same shake issue as the stock one, i think its ford's car design that is the problem.

2. I am a drag race oriented guy

3. I love your 03 cobras and their wheels

Maybe if the stripes were widened to the size of the bumps, it may look better. Maybe even covering the bumps with vynil also, like Andrew said!

On a car like this I don't want aftermarket ANYTHING. I would personally want to keep it as it comes out of the box, and would hate to even think about shelling out extra money for better parts that are not factory Shelby.
