Does anyone know if Shelby will be signing the glove box's and also if they will be listed in the Shelby registry? I can't get any info on this at work, our dealership can't seem to come up with any info I haven''''t already seen on this site! Thanks for any help, Brad?

I'm sure for a donation to his charity he would sign your glove box.

How's this for service?

The car will probably be listed in the Shelby Registry, but getting Mr. Shelby to autograph 7500 glove boxes per year during production isn't feasible.

SVT will continue to issue certificates with each car, and those will probably include Mr. Shelby's signature.

The cars will not be individually numbered like the Bullitts were.

The GT500's engine will be produced at Wixom with the Ford GT engines, and they will continue to have the engine assemblers sign the engine. I suggested that the plate on which they sign contain a facsimilie of Mr. Shelby's signature.

Hmm... I wonder if Rick Copec (president of SAAC) will hold off on updating the Shelby Registry so he can include the new Shelbys in the update.

Not to nit pick, but it's Rick Kopec. I'm sure he would like his name spelled correctly.

Go to this link:

http://www.shelbychildrensfoundation.org/

He used to have a place where he would autograph something in exchange for a donation. Sorry, but I don't have the time to troll through his site right now to find the exact link.
They can also be called direct at: 310-327-5072 (a California #).

Also, if you are a member of SAAC (Shelby American Auto Club), they have autograph events for national shows.

Hope this helps!

It would be great if when we purchased our GT500s that we got a certificate autographed by Shelby. But - if the certificate has an autograph done by autopen or if its a print, then why do this in the first place? We could just find a picture of his autograph and print it out on a piece of paper. It would be about the same.

200 is well worth a legends autograph on say visor or glove box door!
Having both the headrest signed on my car would be cool!

Being a member of SAAC, I think I'll try to get to an autographing event to make sure it's Carroll actually signing part of my car. I'll still donate to his charity though.

EDIT: Sorry about Rick's Kopec's misspelling. I pulled an all-nighter Thursday.

Interesting fact: Shelby is on the board of directors for SAAC. He used to occasionally write personal letters to members he knew, especially students from his driving school at Riverside Raceway. My father, who was a member of SAAC since its inception and attended his school, dug up two letters Carroll wrote to him!!! They're in darn good condition too. I wonder how much these will be worth when Carroll passes on?

Just wondering if 7500 units is confirmed or could it still be 5000 per year?

What do you guys think? Is the glovebox in the 2005 Mustang the same one that will be used in the GT500? Could I order a glovebox now and then send it to CS so that when I get my car I can have them swapped? How hard is it going to be to swap out glove boxes anyway?

It very well should be, BUT the serial # for the '05 will be coded differently from the '06. If you are looking down the road to use this as a selling feature, any savvy car collector will check the stamp # on the glovebox to verify that it was signed for that Cobra's glovebox, so if the glovebox is stamped as an '05 he/she will question it's authenticity.
