I was reading EVO car mag today, and they were testing the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage - the company's new baby Porsche 911 fighter - and I noticed that much of the interior - like the dash - was swathed in leather. It reminded me of how Aston Martin does that with most of its vehicles, and I immediately wondered if Ford decided to use the same idea with the dash on the new Cobra. I think its the first time a Ford vehicle has decided to use leather on dash and door surfaces traditionally made of vinyl or plastic. And since Ford owns Aston Martin, I wondered if they got direct inspiration by looking across the aisle...

 

That interior is amazing.

 

Yeah, that whole car is sick, and according to EVO, the Porsche 911 may have finally met its match!

 

AM is the greatest. Exterior and Interior are amazing. And this new Vantage is my favorite from the new AM lineup.
And about Ford borrowing some ideas from AM's interior, maybe

 

The interior reminds me more of the BMW M cars. They have leather interiors with the heavy colored stitching like that.

 

Yeah I guess the leather dash is similar, however on the look factor, they are NOTHING alike...

 

Leather has been done on high end cars for years. They just needed something to richen up the interior of the cobra so they chose leather. I don't think they got any insperation from the vantage, they just knew it would add a little bit of a more expensive look to the interior.

 

Gosh that has got to be one of the slickest looking cars around. Ford hit that one right on the NAIL!! GO ASTON MARTIN!
