The Shelby GT500 is on Car and Driver TV right now on Spike TV. It looks hot on video. They showed it real briefly as they rolled it out and then parked it and talked about it briefly.

ok I am confused first they say that the next Charger SRT-8 (the high end version) does 0-60 in only 5 sec (pretty slow for having 425HP and costing a lot) but then they show the Jeep SRT-8 and say it does 0-60 in less then 5 sec. Same power + heavier vehicle = faster????? since when.

and stay tuned they are going to show the Ford GT

sheesh I love Car and drivers accuracy....they were showing the Ford GT and say it has the 5.4L V8 which it does but as they say that they show an engine that says 4.5L V8 on it

The Grand Cherokee SRT8 has a standard full-time 4WD system, while the Charger SRT8 does not. The full-time 4WD helps with traction during launch, allowing the Grand Cherokee version to beat the Charger version off the line (even with 10 less hp - the Grand Cherokee SRT8 has 415).

In terms of the SRT8s being slow and expensive, I would have to disagree there. Especially based on the competition in those segments (family sedan and SUV), I'd say the SRTs are very fast, and a surprisingly good value (sub 40k for the Charger, probably just over 40k for the Grand Cherokee).

Anyway... got a little off topic there.

I am assuming it will reair tomorrow they usually rerun it again on Sundays.

My question about the jeep vs. charger is that how can a car that has less HP and wieghs considerably more be faster than the more powerful lighter version the 4wd doesnt help that much, take the STis similar power but heavier than the stang GT but with allwheel drive and it is about as fast; the all wheel barely compensates for the wieght difference, so the 4wd Jeep shouldnt be faster than the charger but about the same, unless it has a lot more torque

but again car and driver hardly ever gets anything right the first time around (or second or third for that matter) anyway so who knows what each will do until they come out.

please lets not start the GT vs STi debate again it was just a comparison
