this is ridiculous

How did they lose 8mph highway? That's insane...
And the 'Vette Z51 will be my "Batmobile" project car when I get the money saved up for it. Custom panel fabrication isn't going to be cheap. :P
Edit: I just looked at the window sticker posted in the auction. It said 15/24. Wow. That almost scared me away from my 'stealth' supercharger.

There was a 99-04 model with the supercharger. It sounded really wierd until I realized that the clickty clack was a blower.
It doesn't sound bad though.
I read in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords that a Paxton at 10 psi will put a 24v 4.6 at about 550hp (Flywheel) about the same for torque.
Maybe you could throw a bigger pulley on that Saleen Blower and get some bigger numbers from it.

The Saleen looks terrific, IMHO, but I agree it's about $15K too expensive. Don't know how they expect to sell these at those prices once the Shelby hits the market.

The Saleens may seem expensive now. But, for at least the first year, you can bet the Shelbys will be marked up to the low $50s. Think about it, if the dealers can sell the Saleens at that price(it's early, but I am sure the S/C will sell), you know that regardless of the MSRP, dealers will be marking their Shelbys up to the same general price range. That way, the two cars can evenly compete with each other.
No Saleen authorized dealer in their right mind would sell the Shelby at MSRP, and leave themselves with S/C Saleens sitting on the lot priced in the low $50s. They will try to equalize the pricing and attempt to sell them both at a similar pace, that way they don't take it in the shorts on the Saleens.
I think the dealers are starting to realize that the Saleens are overpriced. Look at how many are being listed on Ebay, and not selling. They don't want to be stuck with them at year end, and next year will be even more challenging for them with the Shelby.
I know that nobody wants to here it, but I think that getting a Shelby anywhere near MSRP for the first model year is a pipe dream. Ford can't even make enough regular Mustang GTs to supply the demand, so why does everyone believe that the "we will make as many as the customers want" comment will hold any water?
Even if a S/C Saleen and Shelby were offered at the same price I would go with the Shelby, not only does the Shelby look better imo, but the Shelby has at least 50 more hp than the Saleen.

So no "market adjustments" or $65K Shelbys up here.
That doesn't surprise me one bit. Saleen and Roush Supercharged Mustangs always were more expensive than the same model yr. Cobras. They look great, but you're paying for the body kits, better suspension then stock GT, supercharger and tune, and of course the Name. That's why I'd prefer the Cobra over those vehicles.
