If a 450+ hp Cobra for <$38,000 is true, I will forego buying a house for an extra year just to get one. I was expecting a price north of $45,000 for a "shelby" cobra with that motor.

Of course...as soon as I am ready to put my name on the waiting list for a new Cobra, there will be "official leaks" about a 375-ish hp Mach1/Boss for around $30,000. :spin:

You say 4, SVT Jay is insisting on a 3-valve.

 

There is a lot of different stories around saying 3V or 4V. Even if it is the 4V version of the FORD GT, that doesnt mean they cant put it in the Cobra. It'll obviously be detuned by a small amount but still. And just because the engine costs $39K to buy doesnt mean thats how much FORD has to add on to the Mustang price because that is a HIGH marked up price for that engine. My guess is it's a similar version of the FORD GT engine but not exactly the same.
And Tang himself said they are working to get the Cobra priced under $40grand.
He also said they engineered the engine bay to handle bigger engines for future Mustang editions, so that should put to rest the argument of people saying it wont be a 5.4L.

 

I think High RPM may be right. This could be another 5.4 4v with forged internals. We'll know for sure TOMORROW!!!

 

I can't wait till I go monday to the NYAS to see this. I'm bringing my digi cam and planning on getting there early to get some clear shots. Wish I could afford one of these bad boys but I will be happy if there is a Boss or even better a Bullit....
