PJ Saleen
#41
After reading this thread today I decided to give Saleen a call and inquired about the PJ Saleen. I was told that Saleen not only had ZERO plans to offer any of the components for sale, but they were specifically told to tell guys like us that they have decided not to. I was told that it was due to the limited number run and that (partly because PJ got #1 himself) they are keeping it as a "highly collectible" car.
Not to say someone else wont copy some of the components, because I too LOVE that rear end and shaker!

What a bunch of crap!
Oh well, I'm sure someone will back one into a tree eventually and I'll be able to buy that front fascia!

Guys, I know, when I eventually go ahead and pick up a Grabber, thats totally my inspiration. I love those rear window louvers as well, and that rear facia is just unbelieveable. I suppose if they never offer them for sale Ill go with a CDC shaker, CDC front spioler, Cervini's quater louvers, Cervini's rear window louvers and maybe a California Special rear facia to finish it all off...

Now what exactly are they doing to get to 400hp at the crank? I know it's a 302 but are they just boring out the 281 and putting in forged internals?

Hey H.T.T. assuming I haven't got you fired yet, DO NOT SCREW UP ANY REcreation of THE BOSS!!!
If you cheapen that car, the real one that kept up with a car you took credit for that was designed 40 feakin years after the original, and tweaked by a real racedriver/enthusiast, you will go down in manufacturing history as the guy who created automotive new coke.
Recuse yourself, tell the truth( you can't do it justice can you?), or quit and go to the competition, but do not offer a badge and sticker job and call it the BOSS. If your inclination is to paint a FR500C orange, price it at 150k and call it a day, as you were the one who presided over the new "upscale" SVT and the end of SVT as a brand, hey, its your legacy you are working with. The weight of history is looming over you like a hawk, and if you pop up from wherever you've been without being aware of us, be forewarned.
Anyone who is a Stanger will look at the original in this video and weep for what should/could be. Because for most, that is THE iconic Mustang. The fact that it holds its own is just a taste of the bloodline Mustang holds. FORD did the heavy lifting once, I dare you to do it again. Its all very fine to allow very capable people like Roush, and Saleen to sell Mustangs at twice or more MSRP, however, SVT was created with just this very task in mind. Those SVT's ARE legends, just like the originals. And note the licensing brands I left out.
Or step aside and let a real car guy in there. I could offer an opinion on that too, but I think its well known whom I prefer.
Happy new year Mr. Thai-Tang.

PS- I love the PJ, beautiful car with great details! What Ford should make if the beancounters don't win...

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I can't seem to find any details on the points you bring up. I was hoping that since Saleen claims to manufacture cars rather than tune them, a detailed SPECS sheet would be made available to the public, unless it is top secret.

It is not bored. The stroke is increased,

supposedly the crank needs to be turned down to get there as well. They also are using a larger MAF.
