Until I saw this pic I never noticed the cool looking sharp crease that is running down the center of the hood and down onto the front fascia. I personally think it looks very sharp............get it!

What a coincidence! My first wife believed in presence.
The police presence... the attorney presence... the new boyfriend presence... the...

I'd be happy to introduce you.

Awwwwww...you're so thoughtful!

Must be the spirit of Christmas giving.

I don't have to talk myself into liking it. I already do. I posted a long time ago that I liked the hood.

I look at its function first. IT is better than Ford making one that doesn't function well but looks good.

I really think when we see it in person, it will look very aggressive. Everybody said they didn't really like the 2005 Mustang GT until they saw it. There is a lot of presence to a car that cannot be seen in pictures.
I'm trying to remain "cautiously optimistic" about the hood because I really do want one of these: Tungsten coupe with either white or silver stripes and the black seats with red inserts (assuming they're still on the menu).

It'll be interesting to see if Ford makes a variety of options a la carte.

But if the leather interior panels are gone too...then, tragically, so am I.

I think the hood looks fine. To me, it gives it a mean look. However, I just can't get myself to like the ducktail. I sure hope the offer a ducktail delete option.
I seriously doubt it. I suspect that spoiler is there for downforce function at speed more than aesthetic form when standing still.

The rear spoiler is part of the nostalgic design just as in the Mach 1. But unlike them the Mach 1 the stripes don't fit. And remember, if it doesn't fit you must acquit.

The hood vents would likely not be as noticeable on Tungsten. The stripes would likely bring them back out again. If I were trying to hide the hood vents, I'd go stripe delete unless they do actually color match them. I'm sure aftermarket vents will be available in the body colors.

I actually see this the opposite way. I think those vents on a big empty hood surface will stick out more. The stripes help to integrate them better, and make them look like they are part of an overall design aesthetic.

Besides which, those recent R&T convertible pics make it clear that the car looks kind of plain jane without stripes to finish it off. This car cries out for stripes and I think that low contrast ones on Tungsten will look good.

If black vents on a Mustang are so bad, then why don't people biatch about the saleen hood? I always hear from fellow Mustangers how much they like that hood.

Indifference. We aren't biatching about the GTO's hood either. Most members around here have no interest or plans on getting either one.

The biatching is justified because one, the concept's looked better, and two, the production's screws up its signature stripes. The only way to pretend to conceal the awful vents is by getting a black car or what would make more sense, is for Ford to offer color keyed vents to allow full stripes not oops cut outs.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the concepts hood as well. However, the original Shelby vehichle didn't even come with stripes. I belive in '65 stripes came factory, but the following years the top stripe was an add on from dealer if wanted. However, I beleive the side stripe did come from the factory all the years. So, if you look at the above convertible, it is pretty much identical to the original striping (no top strip from factory but side stripe from factory).

No matter what, were gonna want this car... Whoever can afford it will get one if available. The top hood vents are not going to be the deciding factor for purchasing. And, Ford knows this as well. I'd prefer funcional hood vents more so than looks. heck, if it's for looks, then throw on some irrelevant sidescoops .

If I decide on getting one I'll put them on the next day. Call them non functional, fake, or look at me, the GT500 looks naked without them. I hate to alter the design on a SE or SVT but this is one case where I would make the exception. Besides, there are some available from the after market which have subtle design and would fit right in, therefore completing the Shelby theme.

At first I was upset about the GT500 hood and then I realized that a hood is one of the easiest after market bolt ons’ to get. There are hoods out now that would probably work and it won’t be long before someone creates the prototype hood - with functional vents.

Sure you'll have to have it painted but it's an easy fix.

I'm over the hood - A true twin-screw blower is what I want and is a stopper for me. I can't change that out cheaply or without voiding the factory warranty.

Maybe if Ford had put a twin-screw on it in the first place they wouldn't need hood vents

Not bad, the bars next to the grill are slanted like the last generation. Looks meaner but still looks a little odd.

Dunno if I would like my car looking "happy." Makes me think of a VW bug or something. Herbie. "Awww, look at the cute little happy car." Think I'd like more of a mean look. The 03-04 Cobra with a couple of mods looks down right evil!
