GREAT info! Where did you get that? I know the price will be in the $40K range (see FoMoCo Press page, near the bottom of the release):

I would not expect to see the car for sale at any price. You can (or will be able to) buy many of the parts through FRPP, but not the entire car.

I can't say I agree entirely. I was thinking a short-run Trans-am car, primarily for Ford sponsored teams, ya know, for promo purposes. But they could be doing a one-off to promote the new Mustang and their aftermarket parts. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

lol..."Whomping", that's a funny word . Yeah I'm pretty sure it could take some other cars: upcoming C6, CTS-V, Mercedes CL,SL 55 AMG, M3,5 and so forth and so on

I think what they mean is that this is "a hint of what's to come" from Ford. And, with their mention of a 40 thousand car, I feel this is our next Cobra, just all dressed up for racing.

I Hope its not the next Cobra, Cobra guys are loving the ease of modifying the current Cobra. I think most would prefer it to come S/C from the factory. It would be nice in a Boss 302 version, but as i understand, is the Cammer, not emissions legal in the current configuration?

Lets be fair and put it up against an equivalent M3:

I think it would be a good race.

That's a sweet M3. I'd love Ford to get back into that type of racing with the Mustang. Sweet, very sweet.

Going down the list, I'm wondering about the $40k-$45k price . If the GT is most likely gonna go for about $25,000.00...

Ok say you strip $15,000 of parts out of the GT, can the rest of that part list be had at $30,000-$35,000? Does that sound about right?

Here's a better question. Has the 5.0L Cammer been certified for emissions in a vehicle yet?

My personal feeling is that that part of the press release is being misinterpreted. I think the press release was refering to the price range of _factory produced_ Mustangs for the 2005MY going forward. I'll bet that the actual cosumer cost to put together a car like the GTR would be anywhere from $75k to $100k.

No, and Ford reportedly has no intention to do so.

I think we should forget the 5.0 Cammer. I'd look for something like the 6.4L V10. (which does have a chance of making production) with two cylinders chopped off. That gives you a 5.1L V8. Now, destroke for 5.0L. Still undersquare, and much more likley for production, IMHO. Give it five or six years and we will probably see it.

I think a Boss will show up before then and I'm pretty sure it will be 5.0 to 5.4 liters in size.

I think there's a decent chance of that, given that Team Shinoda has tentative "plans" for it. But that's an aftermarket car and probably won't use the Cammer according to what the owner posted on this board.

I don't expect that there will be a factory Boss Mustang. We'll get a Shelby GT (perhaps called GT350) instead. It may well have a 5.4L, but a 5.0L is not likely IMHO.
