DEBUT: Ford Shelby GT 500
We've waited decades for this, a true Shelby Mustang. Lust for the classic 1960's GT 350 and GT 500 that represented musclecars stretched to their production potential remains strong in enthusiast hearts. This passion beats strongly within the oft-reinvented SVT group, and new team leader Hau Thai-Tang wields the all-new GT 500 like a Times Square billboard at the NY show. Shown in "concept" form, this car is reportedly 95-percent representative of the production model, due to launch at drag strips around the country next year. Developed with consultation from legendary snake charmer Carroll Shelby, the GT 500 packs a supercharged 5.4L V-8 packing more than 450 horsepower. Unlike the previous generation Mustang Cobra, the GT 500 will not use an independent rear suspension. Thai-Tang maintains that the slight refinement gain didn't justify the cost, and he promises that the performance from the solid rear axle will be more than competitive. The Mustang exterior already exhibits 1967-68 fastback inspiration, leaving just details to accomplish the Shelby transformation. Up front, the Shelby borrows the dramatic fascia from the GT-R concept, with appropriate striping and badging carrying the theme to the rear bumper. Inside, the cockpit features numerous touches to increase the visual sophistication and distinguish this special machine from the mainstream models. Product starved for the 2005 and 2006 model years, SVT will be resuscitated for 2007 when this reborn legend hits the streets, priced near the $40k mark.

Thanks. That was a great video by Motor Trend. That guy from Road & Track needs to watch that to see the correct way to speak on camera.
lol Sorry, that was kind of mean.

go easy on them, these are guys who write for a living. And they're speaking about a very lovely car, so i think they deserve some respect!
lol, anyways...
GT"500" eh? I think it would be pretty lame to have a car called the GT"500" and give it 475hp...

yea, it didnt make much sense when the first GT350 was named either (named after the distance from where Mr. Shelby and buddies were standing [while discussing what name to use] and some building).
