I can understand what you're issue is with this, but let's not forget that the Boss 429 was built at Kar Kraft, not Ford. And that didn't make the Boss 429 any less of a Mustang. It's actually one of the, if not THE best Mustangs of all time. So let's not get too worried about Roush's involvement, whatever it is, with the new Mach 1. All that matters is that it's well done and kicks ****! :headbang: :drive:

Don't forget that the 1968, 1969 and 1970 Shelby Mustangs were build by neither Ford, nor Shelby. They were built by the A.O. Smith Company.

As far as a new Mach 1 goes, it will be built in AAI by Ford. If the GT-500 is going to be built in AAI you can expect a new Mach 1 to be built there too.

CDC worked with Ford on the SN-95 Mach 1 prototype back in 2002. So this is nothing new.

If they truely come out with a mach 1 with around 400 hp I would gladly pick one up. the GT500 would be a little out of my price range considering all of the mark-ups.
Geez...there will only be a "MARK-UP" for a while. They plan on spitting out about 14,000 of these things. After the rabid response dies down ,say 6 months, you'll find them cast aside on E-bay. Stop your "poor me" hand wringing!! If you really want one ,you can have one. The idiots who have to be first will do the overpaying. As proof look at the price of Ford GT ...you can get them for list or less with 500 miles on 'em. Besides, the later production cars end up with better build quality anyway.

I wasnt even BORN yet so that dont COUNT!! HA!!
MAAACH 1
I wasn't born yet either. I was born 8 years after the first year of the Boss. But my uncle had a Calyso Corral 1970 Boss 302 and I remember that being the first car I remember as a todler. He sold it in '83 to buy property in N.C. ( ), but it's the one car that got me obsessed with Mustangs as a kid and I've always had a soft spot for all Boss Mustangs since.

Me too! I can not wait to start seeing those good old spy shots or "unathorized" pics someone takes that they shouldn't have.

I'd much rather see the Boss 329 than a Mach 1.

I was at the Cleveland Auto Show last night, and here is what the Ford Rep for the Shelby Mustang told me about the SE's.

There will be an SE Mustang for 2008. He didn't say when it was going to be released. MY2008? MY2009? I don't know! But lets just hope its a MY2008 and its released in fall of 2007.

Ford hasn't said yet which SE they will be releasing first - Mach1, Boss, Bullet etc. But, three cars are currently being worked on or are in development. By the way this guy was talking, it sounded like the Boss could be the replacement for the Shelby.

The new SE's will be SVT badged cars.

Ford has several options of engines to use on the SE's. He could only speculate what they are going to use. He didn't mention the 4.6L, so I asked him "So a 4.6L won't be in the new SE?" and he hesitated for a second or two and said that "No, I can't rule that one out", "It wouldn't take much to get that engine up to 350-400hp".
He talked about the power to weight ratio. Comparing the Shelby to the Mustang GT. He said Ford engineers are going to apply the same concept to the SE's. So we should expect to see some very fast SE Mustangs.

The Ford Rep told me that his brother is an engineer or designer at Ford, I can't recall which one, but he is involved with the Mustang project. His brother told him, that there are some very cool stuff in the works. Some body changes, just like Brad reported.

I was told that Shelby has been working with Team Mustang recently. Makes you wonder if there will be a Shelby GT350 in the near future.
