At one of the Mustang events a Ford engineer told me that they had a project to see how much HP they could get out of the 4.6 3V. He said they hoped to get 400 HP, but they could not do it and meet emissions & reliability requirements.

But I agree with you, there has to be a market for a Mustang SE that is in between the GT and the GT-500. With the GT @ 300 HP and the GT-500 @ 500 HP it seems like 400 HP is the right # for an in between SE model. I don't know what Ford is thinking with the 4.6 S/C from the Terminator Cobra sitting on the shelf collecting dust, it seems like a no brainer to make a S197 SE with that engine (if not a S/C 4.6L 3V).

 

Im glad it's not coming out.... to be honest .... I dont think there is a need for ford to rush and make and SE edition with more power... parnelli jones (5.0 L N/A) its enough to hold the new comnig camaro's and challengers for a year or two... All i want is that the new ford mustang comes out in 2009-2010 with a 5.4L 4v motor that leaves a 410 hp on motor and is really responding even better to mods than the 2005+ mustangs .... the response should be sweet... weight should be something like 1500kg with retro look an muscle hips WIDE rear end with 18'' stock rims.... there needs to be some serious power...

somwhere on amazon.com I have seen a book by ford made especially for the mustang saying that it was thier beiigest mistake for making the older mustangs something more like stupid ( No offence to these mustangs owners but they are slow ) and i myself is a mustang lover.
