My guess is that Dodge will easily price an SRT-8 version of this in the low $30's, making a $40K+ GT500 ludicrous, especially if they port over the 300/Magnums suspension, making the GT500's econostrut/ox-cart axle suspension seem ludicrous.

Obviously, these are only spy pics of an upcoming concept, but given DC Corp’s record of bringing “concept” cars to quick reality and presuming it would be based on already developed underpinnings and drive trains, this seems like a no-brainer.

 

Interestingly, this car is supposed to have over 450 hp, too (in SRT trim). I would suspect this would come in at mid-30 range. Competition never hurts the consumer.

PS, this will be at Detroit in '06 for its 1st show appearance. Don't sell D/C short, they produce new models quickly. It rides on an abbreviated 300 chassis, from what I heard.

 

The underpinnings are NOT developed. The present 300C platform cannot be shortened. If the Challenger is made, it would be made off the next generation 300C platform which is being designed to be shortened or lengthend. The new 300C is not due out until 2009, so don't hold your breath.

I think it will base in the upper 30's. I think the Charger is $39k, so my guess would be $35-$37K, since it's a smaller car...

 

Mid $30's would probably be more likely for the SRT8, with the R/T in around the upper $20s, a mid-line version around $25K and perhaps a budget leader, secreatry's special at $20K.

Yeah, guess I am obsessed about having a modern suspension in a modern car, some sort of weird character trait there or something.

Be nice if you posted the spy pics.. Under the current market conditions, and the fact that 800+ days has been added to the GT500 availabilty at the top of the forums web page as opposed to 60, the GT500 will be cancelled.. 899 days is almost 2 1/2 years from now.. This discussion is basically worthless.. By the time the car hits the Market, we will be lucky if Ford is still even making Mustangs period..

GM is about to lay off 30,000 employees, and close down 9 manufacturing plants across the US..

If you have a car in your driveway that is not made and produced in America, you dont deserve a GT500.... For the record, I own a Ford and a Chevy.. I have done my part to contribute to both of these great car makers..

If the GT500 ever sees the light of day, it might be worth $50K.. Because Ford would never produce an amount that may not get sold.. They will actually be critisized even making a car with a 5.4L engine, with no new technology in it to conserve on gas.. GT500's are a long shot at best.. alot can happen in 2 1/2 years..

It could be that the 899 is a big mistake, if so I'll PM Brad and find out whats going on.. LOL!! Yeah right!

It has a countdown to the unveiling of the 07 GT-500. It's at 47 right now...I'll bet the 899 was a joke to qwell the rumor mongering going on in here.

That is the most narrow-minded post I have seen in a while. Since when does someone have to "deserve" to buy a car? Besides, show me an American car that is 100% made in America.
No Mexico or Candian plants.

In fact, many Camry's are more "American made" than some Fords or Chevy's. And even the most they are is something like 40% "American."

I was going to stay quite on this issue but I just have to chime int here!!!

All of the public that bought into the GT500 being some sort of special exceptional car just because it was a "Shelby" were sadly mistaken!! When you look at all aspects of this car's content that was orginally promised it is no wonder that the price appears to be slipping north od $40K - Ford had to have been delusional if they thought that they could deliver the prototyoe for that price. Compound that with the fact that they are going to build "as many as people want" (read as 5000 to 7000) and there will be no intrinsic additional collector value to these cars other than the name plate which by the way will probably cost you another $5000 to $15000 ADMU. The styling of the the GT500 is mediocre at best, Ford has already compromised on the power plant by using the iron block 5.4 and fitting it with an Eaton blower instead of the twin crew as promised. There also has been verly little added to the car to make it handle even as well as the current GT giving the extra noce weight of that big 5.4. I really hope these cars are better in reality than they currently a[[ear on paper or int the magazine write ups but I am preparing myself for the worst!!
