GT-R History!
Ok someone give me the history of the badged GT-R, or rather the name itself. i wanna slam this website if what i remember is correct. The site was claiming that Mustangs used GT-R badges to wanna mimic the skyline GT-R. He was implying that the skyline was the first car to use GT-R. So someone spout out the history to me, so i can forward it to them.
I'm not so sure there is any history with the GT-R name for the Mustang. From all the stuff I've read here, I get the impression this is the first time the moniker has been used on a Stang. It may well be "stolen" from the skyline. The Pontiac GTO stole it's name from Ferrari, so who knows...
Lots of people take the GT-R badge that is put on the skyline GT-R and put in on the stang in place of the GT badge, which is probably what the other site is referring to. I believe you can even buy that badge from places like Autozone. I'm unaware of GT-R being previously used on a mustang, I believe there were GTA's (GT automatic transmission?) though.

The first R designation used on a Mustang was the 1965 Shelby G.T. 350 R. Since then, there has been the 1993, 1995, and 2000 Cobra Rs. There has never been a Mustang GT-R until this new concept. As far as I know, the Skyline was the first GT-R.
