All I can say is WOW! I have owned three Mustangs in my life all on the Fox platform. The new GT 500 is incredible................I am so sad the ricer crowd doesn't have the history to draw on like ford and Chevy!

I'm not. It's time history teaches them a lesson; which this car surely will when they get their ***** handed to them. But then, this Shelby ought to eat M3s and M5s for lunch...so there's not much hope for the "import tuner" crowd.

All hail the triumphant return of the most storied muscle car in history! :worship:

For everyone who has a GT & a better half you could make your GT look like it. BTW, when is the magazine out?

It is a small picture from only one angle but what I see I like. Now is time to go convince the family.

I go away for 12 hrs and look what happens...It defintely has a black chin spoiler on it. Me like.
I also like the snake emblem on the side-just like on the 60s Shelbys. The hood scoops look like vents like on the 03-04. Air in the front, through the rad, and out the top like on many race cars.
I like that they continued with SVT's heritage of bumper mounted round fogs. I think it also looks like it's smiling. Smiling because it's getting ready to take a bite out of that Chevy's a-s-s!

Now where's my wall paper...

Yes, but I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

I just think everyone is talking like this is going to be the production car and forgetting it is a concept. Thats it.

I believe it's what they call a "near-production" concept. That means the production car may change but not by much.

Exactly. It is a 'near' concept car. It will be very close. They did this with previous Cobras. Can't wait to see that baby in person Saturday.
I'll be taking lots of stills and video...

3. With all the GTs with Shelby stripes, the Cobra won't be as distinctive on the road.

There are tons of '05s (both GT and V6) running around here and I have yet to see one with Shelby stripes. I don't think it's as common as you think.

Agreed! I live and drive in Orange County Ca. And the number of 05's I have seen is still under 20. None of which carried stripes.

I think all this talk about stripes being everywhere is coming from all the time we have been spending looking at aftermarket cars right here on the web.

I guarantee you roll one of these babies down the highway and there are going to be a lot of sore necks and people chasing after you trying to get a better look.

Good points. You're probably right.

Also, I just noticed it looks like they used the front clip from the GT-R concept, minus the headlight cover-bar-thingy (which I love!) on the new Cobra. It just appears they put the fog lights in the hole that are empty on the GT-R. Just an observation.

Yeah, if you pay close attention to some of the early '05 GT photos, there are a few things that were at the auto shows that ended up not making production, most notably the engine cover, chrome shifter, and silver around the emblem on the steering wheel. There were no exterior changes. I would expect some subtle replacements of unessesary "show" parts, if this is a near production concept.

I noticed the same thing. Some minor massaging, add the fogs, standard headlights. But I like the hood on the Shelby Cobra better than the hood on the GTR. Wider, higher, vented. :worship:
