I agree that most reps don't know anything. Maybe this guy is just blowing smoke. We'll see. I would really like to have that 5.4 supercharged engine though. Mobster, he showed me the hood you have on that chop from one of his promotional magazine. He said Ford wanted to use this hood, but they would have to do some different air intakes setups on the engine. I'm guessing if we get a 500hp engine around $35,000 to $40,000, Ford will find many ways to cut cost. I hope we do see a nicer version than the motortrend chop. Here's the one I'd like to see.

He did mention side scoops like this. Maybe we'll see this beast. Needs less of a bulge in the hood though.

I'm getting giddy.

I would love to see him being right about the dates though.

And he did show me lights just like this one that were sequential.
Now this is the Shelby Mustang that Ford should build. Of all the chops that have come along in the past year, these two you attached are still far and away the best I've ever seen. This car would be one of the best looking vehicles ever to be seen on the road if it were to be built. I agree though, it needs a lower hood. Otherwise, this is Mustang perfection!

I will be first to tell you that speaking from experience the guys at the Auto shows have no "Effin" clue what they are talking about. I was at the Washington Auto Show, and they rep there said that the Mustang GT doe the 1/4 mile in 13 seconds Flat. I swear to god this is what he said when someone called him on it and said it only ran 13.5-13.8.

"Well you are correct sir, but we round it anways so thats about right"

so how exactly would it have side exhaust?
I agree, I thought there wasn't enough room for side exhaust. I'd be very disappointed if we see a shelby version. I believe they said SVT will have the new mustang there. Oh well, we'll find out.

I'll be disappointed too, because if they do come out with a new Shelby, no doubt it'll be very price, especially with Carrol's name on it, probably somewhere between $60-70K, well outside my range of affordability. I highly doubt the SVT version will employ the FordGT motor. I think the most likely powerplant, would probably be a detuned version of the 06 Lightning concept's blown 5.4L. Guess we'll just have to wait 9 more days to find the REAL truth!

FWIW, a lot of people would say the fact that it will have stripes alone will make it look just like the photochop...because most people don't pay that much attention to the details.

Also, along the same lines, if you tell someone it has a 5.4L supercharged engine, they will most likely automatically assume that it's the same as the GT motor because it too is 5.4L and supercharged.

To many people, they would consider them one in the same.

Obviously, the guy has some details that are fuzzy to say the least. I would assume the car will have stripes and a 5.4L S/C based on his info, any other assumption based on a photochop that M/T put together is a fools' errand.

I wouldn't outright say the guy is lying, because he may very well have the info, he just may not have paid close enough attention to really have useful info, or may not be able to explain the actual info well.

I agree. People rely too much on rumors from auto show representatives who don't know jack. It's like listening to a salesman. All they bring to the table are misled information that creates misconstrued hopes. The only "credible" people that they should listen to are people THAT HAVE ACTUAL DIRECT CONTACT with the car or have worked on it, but a rep who pulls out a magazine and believes
its the real mccoy are just trying to blow smoke up someone's wazoo.

The had a red gt, and a legend lime v6 convertible. The Shelby GR1 was pretty cool. The Ford Gt was cool too.

Let's practice saying it all together folks: "Shelby GT500, powered by SVT".

And you'll still get the little snakey logo on it too, just like a '67 Shelby GT500 - so there's your "Cobra" reference. Voila, everyone's happy!

Shelby provides the "name" and the creative design inspiration (for which he gets paid a handsome royalty fee no doubt) and SVT actually does the main engineering and building.

Again, the answer seems pretty simple to me. Now, as to engines and powertain choices, well, that's a whole different kettle of fish that I'm not going to speculate upon here.
