Buddy bought this yesterday!!
I'm sending it to him & hoping he joins up. He's a pretty bust guy, though! He bought a 2008 GT R. A reg GT but with a Regency package, I think? That's all I can remember. It has like 4,900 miles! Sweet car he bought! Here are some pics:
It has a Shaker Hood & the Shaker 1000.

Regency Conversion
Not a real model. It is an aftermarket add on package.
A company in Texas does these conversions.

Please explain some more, if you can. What makes you think it's not real? He bought it from a Ford lot in Granbury, TX is all I know. Thanks!!

So it doesn't make it an official "special edition" like a California Special or Bullitt or Shelby GT.

These cars basically had some bolt-on stuff added like lowering springs, Foose wheels, CDC Shaker, CDC ducktail spoiler and stripes/badges. Hope he did not pay too much. Are there any performance mods?

I'm hoping he joins onto here. I know, but I'll let him tell ya what he paid. Yeah, main thing is he's happy with it! Don't really care what HE paid. I have no idea about perf mods, sorry. I know he'll just add all the go fast stuff as soon as he can.

Basically the dealership adds some aftermarket parts and bumps up the price and tries to present them as some sort of special edition Mustangs which they are not. It has NOTHING to do with Ford or Mustang AT ALL.
Its something THAT dealership invented out of the blue just to try to make more money.
It's a good looking ride but if he thinks he got a special edition Mustang or paid a whole lot more for it I feel bad for him.
If the dealership told him it was a special edition Mustang then they LIED to him.
Again it is a nice looking Mustang though!
Odds are he could have added those pieces to the car himself for less than what the dealership marked up on the car
after tossing the parts on there. I bet they probably marked it up quite a bit.
I'd take that GTR badge off it though.
Lots of posers put GT-R on their cars trying to pose as the
concept GT-R Mustang which was never produced.
There was a Cobra R (Not a S197)
and never a GTR on the S197

It is a GT customized by Regency though, thus the "R".
They do a lot of customs on other vehicles too.
That is better than most of the poser Rs.

I agree.
In a sense the R is legit for the dealerships mods.
But just be aware that he does NOT have a limited edition mustang.
It is NOTHING special is far as that goes and the value of the car will not be ANY more than that of a normal GT.
It is simply a dealership project. Simple as that.
Again I'm not knocking it at all. It looks great.
I just HOPE so MUCH that he did not get ripped on the price.
Unfortunately I bet he did get bent over.

Used Cars
The new purchaser is the one that really gets hit hard.
Even if he paid top used regular GT dollar, with low miles it would still be OK.
