So far, burningman and I are disappointed over the Cobra
mostly, I think we haven't seen any spy pics because they just slapped a body kit on the front and back last night
there is nothing really exciting visually, because anyone can put stripes & a bodykit on a car, but I hope the engineering aspect makes up for it.
what are anyone else's thoughts?

Probably don't need another thread for this, but yeah, I think they could have done a little better with the looks (especially with the rockers and leather interior) and really wish they hadn't Shelby'd up the trunk lid (but hopefully that can be removed easily). All in all though, I think it is going to be one heck of a ride. I just hope it doesn't weigh too much (although I am admittedly in the huge minority here that likes balance and light weight over brute power).
As for a specific verdict, I think it will come down to price (and ultimately test drive, of course). At $35k, this will be the best car on the road, hands down. At $45k, it will be a bit of a dissapointment for me.

It's a clean look. More substance than matter. All it needs is side and window scoops.

Yeah ..I am a little .... I remember comments way back when about there "would be no denying it is a Cobra visually". I guess I was expecting wayyyy to much. But then again if it pushing 500hp and it has an IRS. It has to have an IRS ... The splitter is on there for a reason ..Road Course ... ... If I get that, I really don't care ....
That car better not top $40k .....

Like the front...
Great engine...
Wishy-washy about the wheels...
Ducktail could have been better but it's serviceable...
Would have liked straight-across tail lights...
And if that dash is all black - leather or no - that's a mistake (too much like the plastic non-IUP dash). They should have stuck with the aluminum IUP and just dressed that up a bit. I guess we'll have to get a better look at it...
Antiquated spruce log rear suspension. ARGH, when will Ford learn no-one uses this technology anymore. Just try performance driving on a twisty, rough patch of road to see what I mean.

George you kill me.
Seriously, the car looks awesome as it is. I'm sure there will be stripe delete for all the people who want it. Didn't the 60s Shelbys have black mirrors and cool stripes? I'm also sure it will take two minutes to buy a 1/4 window scoop or louver for this car if you want. It comes clean from the factory and that is a good starting point! I wouldn't be surprised if Ford adds scoops them after a year or so and you can get them from the parts department like the 01-04s. No big deal to me.
Tires are probably smaller to save sticker cost. I'm sure with around 500 HP you'll wear them out soon enough anyway. Buy new ones!
1/4 window louvers will look awesome though so I might look into them. I've had my share of fake scoops!
Finally, how can anyone be upset with this car? We finally have a somewhat affordable car with more HP than the once mighty Viper GTS as well as the current C6. On the other hand the Camaro faithfull have nothing to be happy about. Be happy with it. Maybe a Mach 1 will be lighter, IRS for track use for those not content?

Let's wait to see what the #'s truly look like ....
OK ...heres a thought .... This is a concept ...right ? If so, maybe they are going to look at the reaction and make potential changes for final prod ???

What everyones missing in the pic. is that the poster in the back ground of the red car next to a poster of a blue Shelby is the SVT Mustang/Cobra. All thats missing on the red car is the strips and the front chin spoiler, Which leds me to believe the Shelby is an option package

I really like it! A couple of things I would change:
-Add concept / GTR taillights - weren't these styled after original GT500 tails?
-throw away cheap side mirrors. Add smaller oval shaped, painted, swing away
mirrors - similar to '03/'04 Cobra mirrors.

I quite disappointed to tell you the truth...It looks like the design of the car was put together in about 15 minutes. I mean all they did was add a bumper they already had, a new so-so looking hood, new headlights, a cheap looking ducktail, new wheels and what ever the heck the thing between the exhaust pipes are.

paint everything PLEASE, ALL stripe delete option...I'm a fan of the" clean" look (color-matched body parts) of a car, and this isnt it. Add window covers like the concept.
If it was around 35K though, I would not complain at all, but since the cobra is going to be my next mustang, then I'll complain.
The right rear shot of this car is ugly and cheap IMO..mostly because of the black pieces and stripes.
