65 grand for cobra at my dealer
Thats a scary price even if its based on a car that he does not have. But you see some of them people who wo'nt give people a 20 cent raise, or health insurance,or a Christmas bonus, may be happy to blow the money. On a more realistic side I think after about nine months they would find saving that $25,000.00 would be nice on a vacation, instead of a donation.Just a thought ,I could be wrong.
I don't doubt there's spot shortages of GT's, but that's not the same as a real shortage. And the car isn't a year old yet. (Barely 9 months). By a year, they will be on top of demand. And part of that was they just mis-forcast demand; expecting more V6's than V8's. No big.
The other thing is the GT is a $25K car. The Cobra is a $40K car. That's nearly twice as much in the real world. (Figure most people are putting $5K down, so the difference is financing $20K versus $35K, I'd be putting 10 down, so it's $15K versus $30K). There's a lot fewer customers for the Cobra. Give it a year; things will calm down. Ford wants everyone that wants one to have one.

Well I have my hopes set on one and I've been saving ever since they release pictures of the concept. However I will not pay anything over MSRP. I will wait another year even if it kills me, and if that isn't meant to be, then there will be other SE's I'm sure.

Look back over the history of cars, pick anything that was extremely popular, but was created in quantities measured in thousands ... and find one that could not be purchased for MSRP. Hard to do, I'm not sure one even exists. At 7500 units, the only people who will be gouged on the GT500 are the folks who -want- to be gouged.
as I told the salesman who explained "fair market adjustment" (10k over msrp for a new nonZ51 vette with auto), sure, I'll pay the stupid a-hole who just sells the cars 10k to go on vacation, while the guy on the factory line is losing his health care benefits in the next couple of years. Besides, I'll just wait til one comes up used with a manual and Z51 for less than MSRP that is already broken in, and get a extended warranty to boot. Anyway, they had 4 new vettes come in the next week, some exclusivity.
Other times I started laughing out loud when I saw the "market adjustment" sticker on a car, really loud. They don't say anything after you do that though, so it's less fun.
I wasn't shopping for one (would wait for a GT500 now that I know about them) but just checkin it out. can't afford it anyway, yet.
