TIE Interceptor :D
I know, I know, it's been a long time since I've done anything worth contributing to the art forums here.
Just to fill you all in, this year I have decided to join the robotics team at school. There was a tutorial type thing a few weeks backfor some members to try their hand at CADing, since we're going to be designing alot of custom parts for the robot(s) we plan to build this year, and someone on the team needs to be able to mock them up and have 3D models for machine shops when we want the parts.
So they showed us how to draw basic shapes, extrude them, blah, blah, blah. Then they said here, have a go at it for a half hour or so. When they came back They saw a block for a V12
and I was just starting on a cylinder head. Fun stuff.
A few weeks later one of the mentors gave me a computer he had "laying around" with the same software on it, and I've been playing around a bit. Today I decided to do something challenging, and actually save it for once.
I picked up my TIE interceptor model that Ibuilt years ago and started. All I can say is... ****! 3D modeling is fun!
It's nowhere near complete, as you can see, but its totally awesome to do this.
Screenshot

Model and screenshot (note, the flash on the camera I am using is insane. The blue is MUCH MUCH darker, and the "pink"ish stripes are actually a deep dark red. darned flashes...)

Just thought I'd share, and I'll update it the farther I get along. This will also help me locate any other Star Wars geeks on this board
