Job portfolio
My current job is a manager at a cell phone store. Not what i want to be doing..
I have been trying to make a portfolio of art work to use to get a job doing some kind of computer graphics. I really don't know what companies look for in a portfolio.
Anyone have experience with that and could give me some insight?

I really don't even know what jobs are out there.. I as just going to apply to every computer art job in Chicago.
I am not really interested in Graphic Design. More like video game/film companies for texture artist or conceptual artist. or somthing along those lines.
I appreciate any info you can give me.

Welp from my experience the best way to get into a vid game company is to know somoen who is already there. Alot of companies wont even look at you unless you've shipped 2 major games or had a key hand in a major mod of a game. Video/film you may be able to hook up with but they will more than likley want to see a killer demo real (no spaceships please) and a degree or two under your belt.
I have my work cut out for me don't i.
I don't have a degree and never will.
How do i submit things? Should i put a resume with a CD for a portfolio? Or should i print off things and attach it? Develop my webpage and put a link to my website on my profolio?
What does "Welp" mean?
Thanks Doug!

First off welp means "well"
Yeah you do have your work cut out..but i know you have the skills.
All places are different ..I'd mail in my portfolio on CD and send a printed resume. But remember you have no time to gfet them to notice you so the simpler the better. Also when you goto you interview bring alot of copies of your resume and a printed version of your portfolio in a nice professional profolio binder. I've sometimes just included links to my online prtfolio and that seems to work well.
Hope that helps
Doug
