Would like some guestimates on these mods...
Okay so some of you know my car was hit last week by a drunk driver and it's been pretty depressing around the house lately but then last night I was doing some research and found out about Diminished Value. It's where the insurance company pays you for the loss in monetary value for your car. In other words, I get a fat cheque from them which should make up for the car being wrecked. The average for my class was about $3700-$4000 so I'm pretty happy about that. They said my car was worth $21,900 so that's good. But anyways, with this cheque I plan on getting all the mods I wanted to get for my car right away and have some fun, but I'd like some opinions on them and some estimates on what kinds of gain I'll be seeing. So here they are:
Super Six Motorsports Stage 3 Kit:
- Ported Heads
- 3 Angle Valve Job
- Cobra Valve Springs
- Retainers and Seals
Forged Wiseco Pistons
SSM .50/.50 Lift Cam
MAC Shorty Headers
MAC Pro-Chamber Off-Road H-Pipe
SLP Loudmouth 3.5” Tips w/Custom 2.5” Exhaust
SCT-2 Xcaliber Tuner
Yeah it's a heck of a lot of stuff but the total cost of it all minus the core charges for the SSM kits will be about $3799.83 if my math is correct
This doesn't include dyno time or any of that but I can put back a few cheques from work to finish it off. So what do you all think? I'm pretty excited about it and I really hope I can get at least $4,000 out of these people

Here's a good start for you, we were in rare form on this thread:

yep I followed that thread for the first three pages then I lost my endurance
Bottom line for me is either building my engine or going straight to the turbo...I can't decide. I want to build my engine for the sake of knowledge and being one of the first to do it now that I am really close to having the funds, but I would also love to get that turbo so I can really move.

I just don't know...I split the parts into a "bolt-on" and "motor" category so if I don't want to blow all my cash I could just get some of the mods instead of all of them. I guess I could get my bolt-ons then get it tuned then get some LCA's and see what my times are, then work from there. Maybe save like $2,500 and save until Summer then go nuts.
I dunno...I still need some people who are more knowledgeable to throw some opinions around or at least some logical guesses...I was hoping with this whole setup to be near 250rwhp, possible or not?
I would think you would be higher then that. I think 220rwhp is achievable with just boltons, so another 40-60rwhp with fully ported and polished heads, cams, and rebuilt engine is not out of the question.
higher then that would be nice...I have a lot of freetime between classes so I made this little chart
Modification Timeline:
February: $1349.83
1. C&L Trueflow Air Intake System (5rwhp)
2. SCT-2 Xcaliber Tuner (10rwhp)
3. SLP Loudmouth 3.5” Tips w/Custom 2.5” Exhaust (7rwhp)
4. MAC Pro-Chamber Off-Road H-Pipe (8rwhp)
5. MAC Shorty Headers (5rwhp)
- Will add about 30rwhp
- Will give you 200rwhp
March: $2100.00 before refunds - $1725.00 after refunds
1. Super Six Motorsports Stage 3 Kit (25rwhp)
- Ported Heads
- Cobra Valve Springs
- Retainers and Seals
2. SSM .50/.50 Lift Cam (15rwhp)
- Will add about 40-60rwhp
- Will give you 240-260rwhp
I dunno, I always prepare for the worst so I won't get let down but I seriously hope after $3,000 in mods that I'll be running with stock 2005 GT's.

The only dilema is that you build a motor to make hp N/A or forced induction. If you build it to make more hp N/A, most likely it would not be turbo/supercharger friendly(high compression). So if you built it with low compression for a power adder, you would still have to come out of pocket for the power adder, or you'd be running an 8:1 compression motor n/a, which would be far from fast.
You could do the heads for a power gain either way right now and add the turbo/sc and if you blow it up then build the bottom end again to take even more boost later. Every motor responds to better heads. Your updated timeline mods sound like good stuff that you can use if you decide to do something with the bottom end later. I wouldn't bother with pistons or anything now. If you up the gear ratio a little bit with at least a TLOK with those mods and considering you're a little lighter, I would suspect you'd be quite a bit better then a stock gt.

Not to be a drag man, but doesn't "diminished value" mean that the insurance company won't pay you the new replacement price for the damage to your vehicle?

No because his insurance has promised to pay to replace the car completely.. Meaning a new one.. In this case, since the value of the car has decreased from the original agreement, but can be fixed, they will fix the car and pay him the difference of the value of the car, now that it has been wrecked.. Its no longer worth what it was.. However his policy covers upto the cost of replacement brand new... Now that they have paid him this, they will readjust his policy to reflect a lesser value of the Mustang.. Meaning if he were to total it in the future, he could no longer request for them to replace the car with a new one.. Rather replace it for the value after the $4000... They would cut him a check.. So no he couldnt buy a new 2006 V6 Mustang equivalent to his..
I think he should get a Power-Adder... Dont be foolish Gash05.. In the long run, a power adder will be cheaper, when you factor in the cost of labor to install all the other parts.. Unless you do it yourself.. But your engine is still brand new.. No one ever replaces whats not broke.. Kinda like what Fazm is trying to say..
