Thumbs down

Went to the Dyno with the MMR Air Kit and SCT Tuning. With about a 20 min cooldown the results were surprising.

Gold - Stock tune and Stock air box HP-191 TQ-218

Red - Stock tune and MMR Filter Kit HP-197 TQ-223

Blue - SCT Tune and MMR Filter Kit HP-199.6 TQ- 227

I also datalogged these runs and learned quite alot ! First off the MMR kit does need a retune, they claim 8-15 rwhp... I only saw 6 ! But more importantly just as the GTs need re-tuning on the MAF tranfer function so do the V-6s. The Air Fuel ratio leaned from a stock 12.6 to a 13.1 with just the addition of the Air Kit.

The new 05s are adaptive but not enough to compensate for a .5 point lean A/F. I richened the A/F by .2 and picked up 3 HP and 4 TQ.

Timing was the standard SCT Premium fuel which went from WOT stock of 16 degrees to 34 degrees. I didn't have time to do more than 4 pulls and I didn't meet my goal of 200 rwhp but I am close and there will more to come. Hopefully Froday the weather will hold for a few 1/4 mile passes.

I will also be working on my own design CAI to improve the cooling effect.

You mean an actual CAI or a SCT Program?

Well both actually ! After todays Dyno I have an SCT tune that works well with the MMR Intake. I didn't have enough time to up the timing which would have easily taken it over 200 rwhp. I was more concerned about correcting for the lean condition. The 4.0s seem to like an A/F around 12.4-12.5 to make the best Power and Torque. I think the CAI will benefit more off the Dyno than on due to the increase cooling effect you get at higher mph.

191rwhp equats to about 225hp at the flywheel, and 255 ft/lb (at the flywheel) if you only use a 15% loss.

EDIT: Talk about underrated, thats a good margin.

WHOA! thats insane! i love it when for underrates!

~225hp,dang! thats at 1998 mustang GT levels!!!!

talk about bang for the buck!

and ~234hp with just a SCT Tune and MMR Filter Kit! dude! now i dont view an 05 as "settling" anymore. of course i still cant afford one, but heck, if i do get an 05 in the near future, this is what its gonna be!

and my friends all happy cuz his neon ($25K) has 240hp, whenmy sub $20K can beat it with simple bolt one

PS- whats the lowest anyones seen on an 05 V6? i've seen $16988 brand spankin' new too! refire, black cloth, 5spd
