Theme of The Day
Let's be honest, gas prices suck. We have all been drowning in a sea of news stories telling us this (Thanks guys, there was no way we would have figured this out for ourselves
:bang: ).
I pose this challenge to everyone. What are some modifications that could be do to increase fuel efficiency while maintaining or improving performance.
The most creative answer that does not include letting my grandmother drive wins a prize.

A Pint cannot hold a Quart, BUT MAYBE
1.) A tuner which advances the timing to take advantage of Premium Fuel might increase MPGs on the order of 1/2 MPG.
2.) A forward air dam mounted below the bumper might reduce wind resistance.
3.) Low-resistance air filters would very slightly reduce the pumping horsepower.
4.) High Pressure Tires (or at least keep your tires at maximum rated PSIG).
The five resistances all cars must overcome are:
1.) Wind
2.) Rolling Resistance (tires)
3.) Mechanical Friction
4.) Pumping horsepower (compressing your air/fuel charge, etc.)
5.) Gravity (going up-hill).

The thing is that gas prices aren't high enough to make any mods to improve gas milage cost effective as it would take years to recoup the cost of the mod in gas savings. Even hybrids, which get much better gas milage, will take about 10-16 years to recoup the cost over the base model in gas savings. If gas prices get to $10 a gallon, then it might be economically feasible for us all to start driving hybrids.
