Side Panel Stripes
My order is scheduled to come in sometime in the next 2 weeks!!! So exciting. It'll be a black V6 with pearl gold side panel stripes. The question: should I keep em' or have the dealer remove it? Just curious what the folks here think about it. Some days I think I'm fine with it. Other days I think I would be happier (long term) without the stripes. Any thoughts???

I got lucky and they werent on my sonic blue when I bought it. They arent that bad but it seems everyone in hawaii has them so Its nice to be different. I dont know how long they last either being decals. I thought about the racing stripes but Im not sure about the lifespan on decals.
I think side stripes look horrible on a black car! There is a gold on black here in town where I live, and I CRINGE every time I see it. Everyone tells me mine looks so much better, and cleaner without them. Black here too btw.
A few weekends ago, I added silver side stripes to the Windveil Blue and, while the colors complemented each other well, it seemed like the stripes changed the lines of the car. So they were off almost as soon as they were on.
But it's your choice and colors make a huge difference. Can you take a look at the car before it gets detailed and make the decision on the spot?

I like the black stripes on my redfire, but there are some color combos that simply work and others that... well, what was Ford thinking? In my opinion, a black car would look better sans stripe. It's hard to know unless you finally see your new baby!
I was originally going to remove the stripe on mine, but then after it came... i decided to leave it on. with the black top and the black plastic below it, the black stripes looked pretty good.
Who know's I might still remove them....

I like the stripes, but I've noticed on this forum there's not much middle ground, people either love them or hate them

What does it take to remove them?

It depends on the color. On a black car it doesn't work for me. On a lighter color car it actually looks pretty good.

Some dental floss or fishing line works well with that combination as well!

Removing the stripes is very easy. I have a black v6 vert that came with white stripes. One day my wife and I were standing in the driveway going through the same debate as you guys on whether or not to keep them. Out of curiosity, I used a fingernail on one corner of the stripe to see how well they were bonded. Needless to say, within about 15 minutes, no more stripes. The great thing was that I didn't have to use any tools (except for my wife's fingernails on a few of the smaller pieces) and the stripes left no residue at all.
So my recommendation is to leave them on for a few days and see what you think. If you decide you don't want them, it's definitely not something that takes special tools to do.
