I still want to use 87? Or is this device only worth it if i upgrade the octane....r there 'tunes' for 87? i guess there'd be hardly any power gains w/ 87...so if i get it, is will i just get better throttle response and diff. shift points? (i hav an automatice ;p)

Even an 87 tune will make a HUGE difference in your car! The main thing is it will free up tons of Torque in 1st gear! Our cars have a torque limiter that prevents the car from really taking off! A tune will get rid of it! It will also noticable improve your throttle response.

You will get a big improvement in you shifting. Ford makes are shift so smooth and slow it's hard to tell if the car is even shifting! LOL!

Since you have an automatic I would say get your X-Cal2 from Lidio at Alternative Auto... (www.alternativeauto.com). Lidio is regarded as the top automatic guy... You can also go with Bamachips or VMP.... but for an automatic nobody makes a tune like Lidio!

Scrming's 110% right. Even at the stock octane level, a competent tune will do wonders for these cars.

The two that really seem to know the 4.0L best are Doug at Bamachips (my pick) or Lidio at Alternative Auto. You won't go wrong either way.

This sounds just what I need. I have just put in a traction-lok and I can`t break loose on dry pavement, will this tune get the job done?

depends on the the surface, tires, etc. BUT with a little power braking you'll be doing burnouts and chirping the tires on the shifts! LOL!

I'm running Doug's 92 octane Race tune... I asked him to create a dedicated tune for the track. Haven't gotten out to the track to test it out yet, but it sure is a kick around town! The throttle is VERY sensitive and ths shifts, very firm... I don't think most would want such an aggressive tune for a daily driver.

Before that, I had settled on his 92 octane performance tune.... it's a great all-around tune. I'll probably go back to it for road trips. The torque tune is a lot of fun too... especially from stop light to stop light.
